Great, easy hike! Very icy, needed microspikes today although I saw a couple people without them. Got lost a few times-a lot of trails run together here (yellow, yellow/red, yellow/black, red, pink, blue. Just had to keep my eyes peeled and follow this app for navigation. Nice hike for families
This trail was SO confusing. We had a lot of fun but it turn into over 6 miles because there are very limited trail markers. No biggie to us but started to be a little frustrating when we started getting tired!
This is a family friendly trail that is rated moderate but tends more toward the easy side. The trails are wide and fit for mountain biking. Most of the trails were blazed but hard to see as a gray blaze doesn't stand out very well. The photo opt spots marked on the map were underwhelming. The cellar hole was nothing more than a large hole in the ground with some water in it. There was no foundation ruins as I had anticipated. I am still scratching my head over the cut rock. I saw nothing of consequence where cut rock was supposed to be. The scenic overlook at Lookout Mountain was nice but the mishmash of trails there was confusing at best. There are a lot of mountain bikers using these trails so dogs should be leashed.
The trail starts across the street from the parking lot. Nice hike with a wonderful view from the mountain lookout, but no other views along the loop.
The trail up the mountain and back was tremendous for mountain biking. The view from the top is great, with a lot of open space. The trail is a Forrest setting for sure, and part of the trail is very thin leaving only one lane for mountain bikers going in either direction. A lot of rocks at times, but all in all very fun.
Great scenery and view at the top. Poorly marked. Needed to use gps a few times.
Good! Hard to follow at some points but the map helped. The trail starts across the road from the parking lot
This trail was very well marked and starts off with a nice incline that targets those hamstrings. The summit via features a nice view of the states capital area. Be sure to read the signs clearly or you may end up in a parking lot vs. the end of the trail that passes by the pretty river.
