Definitely met expectations for a tranquil afternoon hike. The cave is a nice feature near the end of the trail.

a lot of road noise on this trail, however, there were a few very nice "payoff" views including two lake views. totally worth the trip

Sweet trail. Moderate climb. Some mosquitos so I would recommend spraying something on yourself first- caves pretty cool!

Well marked trails, pretty rocky at some points. Friendly fellow hikers helped me find my dog who ran off, so trail is actually about 1.2 miles shorter than my recording because I had to back track. Overall, easy, beautiful hike.

Good rocky incline on the way up and smooth on the way down. Kids loved judges cave.

Rocky

Pretty neat exploring the caves. Small enough to fit through the crevices and hang inside the cave. Was able to climb the rocks as well. Overall a rocky trail on the way up and down.

HikingGreat!

A good trail to introduce kids to walking uphill. Brought 4 and 6 yo and they did this fine. Enough shade for even a 85deg+ summer day. At times, trail is narrow but overall solid footing and well marked. At the top is the pile of rocks known as Judges Cave. Kids enjoyed scrambling and exploring the nooks. Though not much in terms of views - can barely see through the trees in the summer, onto businesses in Amity and route 15.

The history and views are awesome, really cool area. There just broken glass everywhere. Some large pieces some small but it's everywhere. So if you go be very careful with children and pets

The cave itself was a mere pile of rocks. The trail itself was fun, but without anything unique or particularly scenic.

First to Review

This was an easy hike with a great historical payoff at the finish. Took the Westville Feeder trail which runs into the blue blazed Regicides trail...Cave is less than half a mile from this junction. Cave has an interesting colonial history. Edward Whalley and William Goffe, Two of the 59 judges who King Charles to death in 1649, fled to this spot after Charles II was restored to the throne in 1660 and sought revenge for his executed father. The two men stayed here for an undetermined time starting on May 15 1661 and eventually fled to Hadley Massachusetts. Cool stuff!!
