Flat and easy strolling. Beautiful wildflower meadows and views of the hills around Farmington as well as the lovely Pope-Riddle house which constitutes the must-see Hill-Stead Museum. Also accessible to though hikers from the Blue Trail which abuts the property. This loop is a combination of the Bittersweet, Woodland, Swamp Oak trails.
Free parking at the museum.
Museum is on Mountain Rd in the village of Farmington.
There are boards that look like they used to have informational history facts that are no longer there, which they were. Still very pretty. Currently going under construction. Baby lambs were adorable.
ample parking when I arrived after 1p. trails are MUD and there were a few wood planks placed to walk on intermittently. (ankle deep in some areas and several feet at a time in length) one area still had snow and ice. A few trees down along the path to walk over/climb over. amist the proximity of rt 4 it was very quiet on the trail. There were a few inclines, but overall easy walk more than hike. on one trail before the bittersweet trail, to the left were more than 6 large trees down. I will return to see all the flowers in the summer.
1st time here... Maybe it’s different in warmer weather. Short, sweet... Maybe there’s more scenic trails I missed.
Cute well maintained trail with an opportunity to see some sheep if you take one of the offshoots. Watch for ice though!
A little mud and a bit close to automobile traffic, but it's better than sitting on my butt watching Netflix.
Beautiful little network that makes for an easy connection to the Metacomet
Easy trails to walk, pretty well-maintained. Pretty grounds. Sometimes the trails are a little bit wet when there’s been rain but we don’t have to worry about that right now. There are more trails than mapped so you can walk further if you so desire.
