This is a surprisingly nice but short trail. Very well maintained, cons are you hear road traffic & the trail never really gets close to the pond.

Nice little trail loop. In the fall there are a lot of leaves but you can just follow the blue markers

Nice trifecta for the last day of the Great Avalonia Trail Trek fundraising week. Strolling through beautiful cedars on a ledge outcrop into open woodlands with some impressive stones and trees. Out and back trail with a loop, then walking down the road back toward Mystic about 0.1 mi, one arrives at the Pequotsepos Preserves, and start of the Perkins Wildlife Corridor. Great trails and rocky features on the Perkins property, escorting one into a large set of properties owned by 3 dedicated groups: Avalonia, Pequotsepos Nature Center, and the Denison Farm Homestead. Each one with great trails and all well connected for a long or short ramble.

Lots of interesting things on this trail. The cedar swamp is aptly named with a large stand of mature white cedars. It also features, at this time of year, a full bullfrog chorus all trying to attract a mate. Our glacial history is marked out on this trail by the many erratics that shape the trail’s route. Along the way is a large stand of red cedars. The out, loop, return is blue blazed. The blazes are well spaced in standard format for turns (jogs) and for the start of the loop. Excellent views, interesting terrain, and summer shade make this a great short hike.

Shortness of the trail not the issue here. All the junk visible from peoples homes was. Unfortunately much of the path was too close to the road. Will not go back.
