I did not see any trail markings for the first half of this hike, so I had to have alltrails open constantly. Also the map isn't really that accurate

Pretty good trail, but def a moderate level. Be prepared for some steep inclines and less than pristine stretches. Don’t know if it’s a running trail, but it’s good for hiking. It into the South Loop after a certain point, so just be on the look out for that. Still, hard to get lost.

We took the north loop after reading reviews comparing this and the shorter Salmon River loop, then discussing with someone coming off the trail. Other reviewers are correct that the northern loop is unblazed, but we had no trouble finding the trail, using All trails only at junctions, and recently downed trees had been cleared. The weather has been very dry so that may have made it easier, many spots clearly are muddy in springtime. Saw no other people on the northern loop, but only when we got back to the more heavily trafficked blue trail, which was a great perk during COVID. Falls were nice, though probably nicer when not in drought conditions. Wished I had brought my bathing suit to cool off.

Lots of spider webs and prickers but other than that it was a nice hike to get out of the house to!

I would recommend sticking to the salmon trail. The other part of this hike is overgrown and painfully buggy.

Our party of 5 loved this hike. The north loop is interlaced with mountain bike trails and not well marked. The All Trails app helped keep us in right path. That said there are wonderful rocky outcrops, fern valleys giving way to low Bush blueberry and huckleberry bushes. Lots of other interspersed plant life and tons of birds. This intersected with an out and back to great babbling brook and waterfall, as well as an old site where a water wheel had been. Last loop was the south loop which was much shorter since less back and forth and less interesting, but defined easier. The whole trail was wonderful but it clocked at over 6.5 miles.

The beginning of the hike was a bit confusing with the parking lot starting location. It was poorly marked with the markers but finally found the way after keeping all trails on. Did the trail in reverse. The waterfall was really nice. There is an inflatable big bird tied up in a tree though so you will see it if you go the normal route on the way to the falls.

Not a bad trail if you keep AllTrails open. Not marked very well at all.

The blue and blue/red blazes part of this trail down to the waterfall is excellent. The whole eastern part of the loop, however, is unmarked, muddy, buggy, and boring. Even my dog was bored. Lots of horse tracks, and I'd guess it'd be a lot better on horseback. Overall, I'd recommend staying on the blue trail, its great.

Loved this hike! Trail started on red blazes then to an unblazed trail and then finished on blue blazed. The trail intersects with other trails a lot so had to keep a close eye on my GPS location. Trail was very windey with an amazing waterfall toward the end! Mileage noted for this trail is off. It's closer to six miles.

Wanted to see the waterfall after the big rains and wasn’t disappointed! Be aware that the trail is definitely washed out in some spots, and three large trees are blocking the trail in other spots (but you can easily find a route around) Wear your waterproof boots if you don’t want to get wet!
