Crescent Lake Trail is a 1.4 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Plainville, Connecticut that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Nice views. A bunch of muddy sections of trail. Wear decent shoes. Would be nice if you could do a full loop without having to walk on the street.
On one hand the views and surrounding area are really pretty. However, more than likely you won't be able to see much as you'll spend the majority of the walk looking down navigating the copious amounts of mud, ice, and roots. If you want to enjoy this trail I'd say to try your best to avoid it at least a week after any snow or rain.
I would honestly give this trail five stars if it actually completed the loop. Instead, some idiot urban planner decided to fence off the last few hundred yards of the trail because it is next to a dam, forcing people to walk along a street that cars fly down like it’s their own personal raceway. There are no sidewalks and it is around a blind curve. You can literally see the parking lot where you start from the fence with the “No trespassing” sign, and it would be a very simple thing to put a foot bridge over the tiny part of the pond that feeds into the dam so that people can safely complete the loop, but NO, that is just too much to ask.
this is a great way to spend an hour! this trail goes right around the lake, so you get beautiful views throughout! one section of the trail is a little steeper, but it’s fun!
nice trail but portions have a lot of roots and fallen leaves are slippery
