fun hike. fairly steep in parts. probably easier without an inch of ice and snow but fun nonetheless. beautiful couple of lakes at the bottom.

Did the East Ridge starting from Hubbard Park parking lot. Took road to blue trail then to red trail loop. On return trip on red trail we encountered a bunch of No Trespassing signs. Apparently there is hunting allowed in the area so we could not get back to the blue trail. We trailblazed our on route back to the road. Not an easy task, steep and rocky and down trees.

Best condition it’s been in all year! Love this hike

Beautiful views, the trail is very steep in some places

great trail. note that only a couple of small pullouts on SR71 are available for parking near the trail head. footing a bit treacherous in a couple of places.

One of my favorites! Varied terrain, quite challenging for moderate.

Great hike overall. Make sure to use your app with the map as there were a couple of times that I went off trail.

Wonderful afternoon hike. Stunning views over reservoir and cliffs. Moderate to easy (I grew up in New Hampshire). Expect a few people at the summit as it is driveable. Best hangouts are the cliffside views just before the summit.

Fun hike. Not heavily trafficked. I maybe ran into 10 people on the trail. Some places aren't marked very well, so make sure you look for the trail markers.

Partially paved trail, steeper than you think. Towers beautiful but lots of people due to it being accessable from the road. Got to the highpoint but skipped it due to rain impending. Very unexpected hard hike for Connecticut!

I was really impressed that there was a hike with this level of strenuous climbing and variance of features so close by. Definitely will be headed back here this summer.

One of the best trails and views in all of CT. BUT this trail should be rated as difficult. I’ve done other “Moderate” hikes on this app, and this one has some steep inclines. The views of the lake and the castle and amazing. Just bring a buddy for this one, at least 12 people have slipped and fallen to their death here. Look up Black Dog of West Peak

some markers are a little too far apart so we fell off the trail a few times, but other than that the hike was perfect. We lucked out with good weather, and the incline was challenging but not hard. Overall really fun hike

Wonderful hike alongside the lake until you get to a ridge with a beautiful view the whole way. The castle on top is super cool and has an awesome panoramic view. Probably my favorite half day hike I've done in CT!

Just an awesome hike. Views that just keep giving. Some pretty rough slopes. At one point I was begging the trail to go flat but it just kept rising. Great workout.

Great hike. Had to hop over the railing on side of road to get on trail by the water, then walking up and along the ridge before arriving at Castle Craig. Our trip in mid-March was snowy.

great hike, it was very wet and muddy the day I went, part of the trail bring you right down the middle of a brook. the hardest part is definitely from castle Craig to the towers. awesome hike overall and very well marked and easy to follow.

Lots of loose rock but other than that a nice day hike with amazing views!

This is a great hike. There are some challenging spots, but amazing views, varied settings, and a great workout. The back end when you're coming down more gradually is sometimes on paved road, and then just turns into a walk in the woods. Between Castle Craig and West Peak was my favorite part. You go steeply downhill, in to a ravine and then right back up West Peak. You're right in of Meriden, but it doesn't feel like it.

Very rocky...45 degree climbs followed by 45 degree descents. Narrow Cliffside paths make this an exciting trip for the athletically inclined. East of Chamberlain highway the metacomet becomes extremely dangerous, unmaintained and sometimes unmarked. Very beautiful grassy areas with pines and cedar by the sides of cliffs
