Beaver Pond Trail and Tunxis Trail Loop is a 4.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Burlington, Connecticut that features a lake and is rated as moderate. So I thought I'd give this trail a try since it had a waterfall amd a lookout tower, neither of which I saw. I lost GPS signal so I followed the Beaver pond trail to blue/yellow to blue with black dot then got back on the blue at the end. I basically went around where I wanted to go. I added about a mile onto my hike which is fine. I would definitely go back to find what I went there for more knowledge than today.
Not marked too well i thought to be honest its confusing no where did it say beaver pond trail but you can pretty much assume its the correct one. just follow yellow and blue but once you get to that blue and block dot blaze at times the blazes were not visible. i did like some of the rock formations also its slippery with the snow when going across the bridges. last but not least i didn't fine the observation tower either or waterfall that is some how off that path it saids
This is a good easy/moderate hike with varied terrain. Starts on a popular gravelled route then veers off, very few other people. Outer trails are well marked and the main loop is obvious, but some smaller inner trails are lacking markers, so bring your gps if you want to wander a bit.
We really enjoyed this trail. It has a nice variety of features along the trail: the pond, small bridges, rock crevices, and babbling brook. Going clockwise was east to follow. The beginning and end of the loop are on a heavier trafficked trail, but there are fewer hikers when you make the first turn off the main trail. I look forward to returning when the mountain laurel along the path are in bloom.
Cold with light snow on the ground so a bit slippery in some places but I liked it overall.
