PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE DOGS:
To reach the trail head you have to park on a little dirt pull out on the right side of the road. Following the 713 trail for about a mile and a half before reaching the trailhead. So that adds an additional two miles on top of the 5.6 miles.
It is definitely a challenging trail and I HIGHLY recommend getting boots for your pups. Most of the trail is rocky and tore my dogs pads which never happened on many other trails before. My happy and energetic pup rarely shows pain, and for him to start limping only 2.5 miles in just shows how strenuous this trail could be on pets. So please be aware. We ended up not finishing because of how much pain he was in.
