Waterton Canyon Trail is a 12.4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Littleton, Colorado that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Horses are also able to use this trail.
NOTE: Dogs are not allowed in order to protect the bighorn sheep herds.
It was an ok walk. It was built up by friends who recommended it. At the end of 6 miles there's the dam, and that's about it. Nothing too spectacular. That and it being an in and out trail with not a whole lot to see either way, I'd spend your time on other trails in the mountains, unless you don't have the time to drive an extra 30 minutes.
More of a walk than a hike, but the big horn sheep were awesome to see.
Great trail! No dogs allowed
Always see wildlife
We had a great time! Enjoyed a picnic and saw so bighorn. We went during the afternoon when it was 80 and had 3 large waterbottles, which was still not enough :( there's picnic areas and toilets about every mile, but no water fountains. We did a total of 6 miles weekend before last, it is nice because you can tailor your hike to how long you want to hike.
