This easy loop is one of the better urban walks around. This is especially true for birders. Over 100 species have been spotted at the Greenlee Nature Preserve, right on the Waneka Lake Trail. There is a nine-hole frisbee golf course on the eastern side of Waneka, as well as a small boathouse on the south. Pedal boats and canoes can be rented during the summer months. You'll see a ton of local joggers here, but it's pretty laid back. The entire route is bicycle and dog friendly. I've rated this route for what it is: an urban trail. It has great views of Indian Peaks and the Flatirons, but if you're looking to be out alone in the wilds, you need to choose a different trail.
