Waneka Lake is a 1.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Lafayette, Colorado that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Excellent for a quick walk. Was a bit icy due to recent snow but overall excellent walk!
I really enjoyed the trail! It was fun sightseeing the houses in the neighborhood as well as pretty lake and Mountain View’s. Not heavily trafficked on this Thursday afternoon.
Beautiful view of the mountains. Nice for evening walks! Definitely an easy walk, also great for running. Bugs at night, but not too bad. Nice little detour around the back end to look at frogs and birds at the preserve. A park at one end if you have kids. Workout stations spaced out around, but park and stations currently closed due to COVID. You’ll likely see people fishing around the lake and at the boathouse dock.
Super kid and dog friendly, with gorgeous views of the mountains! Relatively buggy. Recommend going close to sunrise/sunset for even better views. Exercise equipment and bird watching currently closed due to Covid.
Easy, flat loop with a water view at every angle. Several benches and trash cans throughout the walk. Very pet friendly; even saw two baby goats out for a walk. Besides the trail, there is a big playground, picnic tables and grills, boat ramp, fishing, and fitness obstacles. Nice, clean park.
This is a perfect neighborhood trail with just about everything you could want- it’s great for dogs with plenty of pick up bags spots and trash cans, great for kids with an awesome playground, great for anyone looking for exercise whether a walk, run, or more (whole workout station program). It’s also offers a gorgeous view and you can even rent a paddle board or boat and get on the lake after you’re done.
Nice neighborhood trail. Lots of kids at the park when I went on a Sunday morning. We were rarely alone on the trail and it was not quiet so my experience was more than “moderate” traffic. Shaded areas were icy and there was a good deal of mud as most of the chat has washed away. There are many nice benches with great views.
