I was the first one in the parking lot at around 7:30, but a few others trickled in as I was getting ready. Nice little relaxing hike. Did the switchbacks first, as recommended. Not too many people thanks to the smaller parking lot.

Great trail. Some notes of advice - do the switchback section FIRST, because when you reach the falls and start going up that hill....the last thing you’re gonna want to do is the switchbacks. Speaking of that hill-the trail back to the parking lot....slow and steady...it’s a great calf workout. Total distance I logged was over 4 miles....so the ap may slightly be off on the hiking length.

The switch backs are great. Make sure you stay in the same trial out and back.

Hiked Saturday 9/12. Saw a few others on this trail (mostly runners and bikers) at about 8am when I arrived, a few rangers out and about as well, but for the most part it was lightly trafficked and relaxing. Well shaded and the creek at the bottom is beautiful! Definitely preferred this vs. a hike at Chautauqua or another busier trail in the Boulder Open Space since we were going for a less busy trail!

There are only 8 or 10 parking spots and no off road parking. We went on a Sunday and there was a wait to park. Ended up parking up the road, but instead of a 3 mile hike, it was about 5.5 miles. Everything about the trail is great. Beautiful falls at the end and definitely worth the trek. When extremely hot (80+), it may be best to leave the dog at home. Mine struggled the last mile and saw a bunch who also were struggling.

I didn’t see any waterfall and I’m pretty sure the creek is dried up.

Nature tripsGreat!

One of my favorite trails close to home. I take my eight year old to cool off in the creek when it's especially hot outside. Lovely.

Great hike that loops down to a set of falls which are beautiful! It was eerily quiet when we first began hiking, which was kind of cool. Pretty low traffic, but there are a decent amount of mountain bikers (we had about 4/5 pass us). It’s not a problem though - you usually hear them coming up behind you with ample time to step to the side and then continue on after them. Four stars because the loop back up is a bit boring and kind of just a steep climb back to the car. The drive from Downtown Denver only takes an hour.

Walker Ranch starts out with a mostly flat trail through the woods, but ends with a steep, rocky decline (which means a steep, rocky incline on the way back) down to the river. There's enormous rocks surrounding the river to sit down, enjoy the view, and have a snack. I definitely had to stop quit a few times on this trail to catch my breath, because it's a lot of uphill climb on the way back. I would recommend wearing good shoes/hiking boots with traction. This trail is absolutely gorgeous though, and definitely worth the effort. This trail is off the beaten path, and I only saw 2 other groups the entire time I was on the trail. Parking lot is free and mostly empty.

We wound up going clockwise because we took the trail starting by the signs / bathroom. The counterclockwise route starts sunny and would end shaded, so if you’re looking for it, it’s the edge of the parking behind the bathroom / next to the trash.

Very small parking lot! We got there at 11am on Sunday and it was full. We waited about 10 minutes and somebody left, so we got a spot. We took the trail all the way to the left and followed the trail for Ethel. We saw turn offs for the Walker Ranch Loop but didn't take it because we have before and it was veryyy long! The creek was beautiful! Passed over a bridge and sat for awhile and watched water. Only saw a few families on the trail, but other than that, pretty clear of people. Went back the same way we came, little uphill areas, but not too bad. Great hike!!

Nice hike down to the river. Easier to take the steep trail down and the switchbacks on the way up.

This trail is in a great location. Small parking lot. Medium traffic, half hikers, half bikers. The trail itself is under some construction once you get down to the river. We explored a few different paths but ended up hiking it as an out and back. I don't think there loop is accessible during the construction. Still definitely worth doing as an out and back in the meantime.

Very fast trail, we did it in about an hour. Great on the way down the switchbacks. Streams are dried up and the trail back up to the trailhead is actually more of a dirt road. We did run into one hiker who didn’t bring water and fainted on the Walker loop, so plan accordingly.
