This is a relatively easy hike on a well-established and wide trail that loops around various old closed gold mines. There are some short steep sections. The area just west is a working gold mine. There are benches to stop and numerous interpretive signs along the route. There are few spots that offer shade. The path is crushed rock and can be hard on some dogs' feet.

This is a great trail with old mining buildings all along it. When you first start out if you go to the right you have a steeper hill that is a little over .30 miles at the beginning and a short steep hill at the very end. If you go left it is a meandering uphill walk for a bit. The trail tops out a little over 10,200 feet in altitude so while it’s rated easy, the altitude could get some. There are benches all along the path for those that need a moment. On a very busy fall weekend we only encountered 4-5 other families on the trail. It is dog friendly but there are lots of deer and small wildlife along the way so leashes are good for those that like to chase.

A great short hike that really gives you a sense of Colorado’s gold mining history. Tumbledown head frames, powder magazines and ore houses dot the trail. Mining today is also clearly visible, as mammoth dump trucks haul ore out of the operational Victor Mine. Extra nice in the fall, with plenty of opportunities to see the golden aspens quaking in the breeze.

We absolutely loved this hike! We took our 2 dogs with us, and enjoyed seeing the mining ruins along the way -- exercise, fresh air and an amazing "museum!" Some of the elevation points were steeper than expected, but it was a great trail.

Great short hike. Relatively easy, does have some uphill to get your heart pumping. Trail is easy to follow with lots of signs with information about the abandon mines and old homesteads. There was still some snowy places when we were there on Saturday morning, and it was very windy. But the sun was shining, yay! Beautiful views! Nice hike, lots to see even if you don’t have a lot of time, you can get this one done!

Absolutely awesome hike; super easy but just tons of abandoned mining buildings and such. Super fun to walk around and explore.

Awesome historical hike around some old gold mines and passes by an active mine you can see production on. The trail description says stroller and ADA compatible but I disagree especially with the wash out on the trail... with young kids I highly advise hiking carriers. Overall a really great time and am glad we went!

Nice historical hike. Benches along the way were a nice touch. We liked the tunnel of Aspen trees you walk through at one point and it was the right time of year to see the colors changing. We took our 4 kids ages newborn, 2, 4, and 6. It wasn't an easy hike for most of them. I do think a jogging stroller would do fine on the terrain though. We would do that next time.

Easy trail with some cool history. There is an active mine nearby so it was interesting to see big equipment moving around and then looking back at 100+ yr old mines.
