Upper Maxwell Falls Trail is a 2.4 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Conifer, Colorado that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Hikers have noted that this trail is not well marked.
beautiful trail. Definitely bring spikes and wear waterproof pants if you have them
Trails aren't marked that well, but i did eventually find the falls. Well worth the short hike.
3 Jan 2021 - snow packed and icy; micro spikes were preferred on the trail and required on the falls.
Made it without cleats, but would have preferred to have them for the steep part of the trail. Otherwise the ice dams and cliff were worth every bit of it!
Loved this trail! It’s only 3 miles if you don’t go in any wrong directions
nice trail that kind of wanders between the trees so you can pick your routing along the creek. falls were relatively small and barely had a trickle of the flow in mid October, but was still pleasant. the cliff loop had some nice views of the surrounding hills. all in all a solid, quick hike from Denver.
Pretty wooded trail. Very mellow. Falls are more of a stream this time of year but still lovely. Low traffic on a Wednesday afternoon.
Really great trail close to Denver with plenty of parking. There was a lot of shade throughout, and a good mix of incline/decline. The Aspens were beautiful right now, and there were a few really good lookout points. The trail was also really quiet, and anyone who was hiking kept a respectful distance.
September 27, 2020 Arrived at the trailhead on a chilly fall Sunday at about 2:30pm. Almost empty and save for a few groups; we had the trail to ourselves for most of the way. The falls are less water and more leaves this time of year - it's gorgeous right now. I'd say in another day or two it will be 'peak.' But yeah, the creek and waterfalls are just a trickle. The trail is nice, wide, well maintained. It's obvious that many people who come here are not experienced hikers. Saw a lot of people in urban clothes, lots of dog poop, a few human diapers... A real shame, because the trail itself is really nice and pleasant. I look forward to snowshowing here in a few months. FYI: the figure eight seems to be no more as they have closed the trail for revegetation, so there is just the bottom loop now.
