A spectacular trail with a new wow around every bend. This is an amazing trail, one that is well worth the trip to its remote location. This trail is packed full of beauty and excitement, and is only moderately difficult hike. In this hike you will visit three beautiful alpine lakes, see many different types of wildflowers (in season), view dramatic mountain ranges, and enjoy thundering waterfalls. You will encounter ever changing plant life. The trail alternates between wildflower meadows, aspen forest, and fir and spruce. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. It has a good tread way, and an average 8% slope. The trailhead is located in a pretty remote part of Colorado so why not consider camping here. The Lost Lake campground is one of the most scenic in Colorado. There is also plenty of free dispersed camping off Kebler Pass or forest road 706 on the way to Lost Lake. This area does charge a day use fee of $3. There are restrooms, water, and parking available at the trailhead. Dogs are allowed on a leash, or under direct voice command. Horses allowed on the trail, but no motorized vehicles are allowed. The trail has an elevation gain of around 500ft. The trail signage indicates 3 miles round-trip. The 4.5 miles shown here includes hiking around lost lake, the side trip to Dollar Lake, side trip to the falls, and completing the loop between trailheads (via the road) The forest service indicates this trail is only open June - November. Be sure you call and make sure the area is open before driving to the trail.

I really liked this trail. We were on it by 8:30 on a Friday and had it to ourselves. Beautiful area. Peaceful without people around.

This trail really wasn’t worth the drive. The lakes and falls are pretty and the trail is well marked, but the trail was fairly crowded, and there were very few wildflowers (even in mid-July) .

Amazing views around every corner. My 4 year old and 7 year old went with my wife and I and it took about 3 hours but worth it.

Went on a Saturday late morning. While there was an occasional group of people here or there, for a majority of the time we were alone. Beautiful lakes with views. It is. We were staying in Crested Butte, and it was a short drive. Well worth it and will for sure do it again.

Went on a Saturday so it was a little crowded but could walk for awhile without seeing anyone. Just backs up at the waterfalls and lakes. Fairly easy hike and beautiful views. It’s quite a drive up a smooth dirt road with so many great views of lakes as well. We were coming from marble. We were able to take our time at each lake and let the dogs play and cool off in the crystal clear water. Did a little fishing and caught a baby rainbow trout. I would do this hike again any day so worth it.

Great trail with stunning views! The campground isn’t open yet (as of Memorial Day weekend) but you can park and still walk up to the trail. The hike to the second lake is easy with zero snow, when you start to head towards dollar lake, there’s some snow pack on a tight steep trail that we ended up turning around because of. There is signage missing at the waterfall but the trail continues toward the left, not across the stream.

Easy trail, with only a small incline. Lots of awesome scenery. The trail starts right at the campground.

Beautiful hike. Lakes are definitely something to see. Easy hike. Camp sites were totally filled and lots of people at sites. Not many people on the trial.

@Michael Howard yes you can. They have campsites right at the trailhead. If those are all full, there are plenty of campsites along the road heading up

Beautiful trail with, you guessed it, three lakes. Each lake has its own character and atmosphere. Can be slightly muddy in places.

I went on a hiking palooza, and went to Zion, Arches, and few other hikes in Colorado and Utah, and this trail was my favorite. You can hear an enormous waterfall from the start of the trail, and each Lake is GORGEOUS. The lookouts are breathtaking, and walking through the rivers and streams is both challenging and exciting. I love this trail, and camping here is great too. If you like spectacular views and aren't afraid of water, this is the hike for you.

One of my favorite hikes. The lakes are beautiful, especially dollar lake cause it had an emerald color. Went in late June and the creeks were full and flowing. The view of the mountains was one of the prettiest views I've seen. Definitely recommend

Absolutely beautiful hike. Went in June and almost all the snow was melted and the lakes were full. Lots of shady spots for hot days. Definitely go to all three lakes and the water fall!

This trail still has a decent amount of snow on it. The most snow was between The Falls and Dollar lake. There were a couple of times that you had to guess where the trail was. If you are starting the loop from the east and are going up to Dollar lake you really don't hit the snow until you're about 0.2 miles from the lake. The views were gorgeous and well worth the hike through the snow.

So beautiful! Went in June and there was still some snow but not enough to ruin it!
