The key hole route is an awesome trail and brings you to the other side of Longs peak where you can climb the well known LEDGES, NARROWS and Trough to the top of Longs peak. Along the way you hike across alpine tundra with incredible 360 views of Estes Park and RMNP’s beautiful mountains and lakes. Views of Estes cone, and twin sisters as well as all the mountains on the continent divide. Views of the black diamond on Longs, Mt. Meeker, and hike along Mt lady Washington to the boulderfields. Scramble along massive rocks to the HUT nestled aside the Keyhole as your mind get blown away as you scramble to the top of the keyhole onto the other side of Longs where there is a substantial drop off. Not like hundreds but thousands of feet. With breathtaking views of Taylor peak, Otis peak, alpine lakes ect... it’s very windy so be prepared. It’s an incredible experience. And would highly recommend this hike.
