Hiked today with my dog and 69 year old father. Definitely would recommend to go counterclockwise, going nearest Flagstaff first. We went at a very slow pace and took several breaks for my dog because it was rather hot. Be aware that there is no technical trail at the very top conjoining the two trails that make this loop. It required a good bit of scrambling to get up the loose dirt off trail, but I wouldn't say this loop should be ranked "hard" by any means. There was only one portion my dog hesitated on while coming down because of some large boulders. Overall, I would definitely do it again!

I wouldn't say that this was a difficult trail. It may have been difficult in terms of finding your way to the connecting trail, but other than that, I would rate this a moderate trail. I got rained on and took cover under a boulder, and even with some slick rocks after the rain, it was totally manageable- and I have been only hiking a couple months here and there having just moved here from the Midwest. A good and proper fun trail!

forgot to stop the recording ;) BUT amazing views and pay off all the way. 4 stars only because there is actually no official trail between the flatirons to connect to saddleback loop. VERY ROUGH going down if you took the clockwise route. make sure you're phone is charged with how on to make it back. otherwise amazing views and vegetation.

Did the loop portion on the flatirons clockwise. The off trail gap between the peaks is 100% descending which makes it easier to stay on track. If you start ascending you’re off the path. Great hike and wonderful views!

Trail was hard to navigate at times but the app was handy to use. There is some rock scrambling and the trail has a light crowd compared to the other trails in the same area. Sun in the beginning of the trail but nice shade for the majority of it. Lots of fun climbing the rocks at the top for great views

Once you get to the top you just make your own way. Maybe there is a trail but I can’t seem to find it.

This loop requires going off trail to link two official trails. Doable, very scenic, steep at the flatiron part, and a significant amount of scrambling in the off trail area. We saw two deer and many birds.

In order to complete the loop you go off trail at the top. It’s technical and a little slippery because of the dirt, but manageable. Amazing view throughout.

Beautiful pre-summer hike with the pooch. I had a hard time following the trail near the summit of Green Mountain, but it was easy to backtrack and correct.

Perfect conditions for today’s hike. No mud, ice or snow at all. Began the hike at 11 and the parking lot was packed by the time we got there. People were everywhere but overall great hike.

Really fun! Towards the top there isn’t really a set trail and you have to scramble a little but just keep going up and left until you’re between the first and second flatiron. It’s also very helpful to follow yourself on the gps map too. We took our pup and he handled it well. Was my first “hard” trail and all in all was a great time.

So only 3 stars because AllTrails trail map isn't accurate. It says you can like loop around but in reality you need to go out and back for the 1st and 2nd flatirons trail. There's even a sign at one point that says out and back. You can see my recording as me and fiance were pretty much lost up there trying to find the trail, scrambling with our dog (not so fun). We wound up just turning around and coming back the way we came. It also says it's lightly trafficed which is NOT true. Not sure if it was just because it was a Saturday and 60 degrees in February but it was pretty busy. Beautiful views and great hike besides getting lost and trying to follow this map!

Had a great morning hike straight up to the 2nd flatiron. Only problem was I was off the trail for sure and mostly buschwhacked up the side of the Mt. Hahaha...me being an ole ass Male...I knew I'd find my way to a trail...Didn't!... I had a fun time anyway...

Our intention was to do the 1st and 2nd Flat Iron loop, but the signage was so sparse that we got totally off trail. We tried to use the app to help, and ended up way off course. I don't think there is a proper trail in some parts. We will try again from the other direction and see if it works better.

Awesome little trail, heavily trafficked, with views, scrambling, elevation gain. Great access from Boulder, with a tough time finding a parking spot.
