Great wildflowers in the frequent little meadows, although not the abundance of columbines as on the Herman Gulch side. Frequent squishy mossy soft spots around late snowmelt rivulets (watch where you put your feet). Lots of cardio work once you hit about 12,000'. A tough climb to the Citadel.

One of my favorite hikes! Mostly consist of open fields & forested sections with a few steep parts to get your pulse going. Definitely worth the trek to the top to see lake Herman.
