A nice easy hike to start acclimating to altitude. Climbing out from the parking area will get your heart pumping, but it doesn’t take long for the trail to start flattening out. The best part of this trail is to hear the rushing creek below. Once you get to the cabin at the end of the trail, it is definitely worth the extra 1/4 mile down the dirt road to the right for the bridge over the creek. The big creek rocks made a nice resting area for a light snack before heading back down. Not to spoil the surprise, but you are almost guaranteed to see some large mammals near the cabin - but may be not the ones you are expecting! This trail will be fine for small children as well. We saw 15-20 groups of hikers around the noontime hour, and a couple mountain bikers shared the path in a friendly way.
