This trail was all we hoped it would be but the ride up was pretty hairy if you've never driven on the side of a mountain. This trail was rated moderate but it was pretty tough. Mostly straight up and lots of rocks and loose dirt because of ATV activity. The views are spectacular though. Do it in early morning as there is not much cover from the sun.

Stultz Trail was a lot easier once we actually found the trail head! Don't be fooled by the sign in the parking area. The actual trail head is across the dirt road. Keep in mind that the trail is one frequently used by those on motorized bikes and ATVs which means there is quite a bit of rutting in the trail, loose stones and gravel on the bottom of the trail in what become cut-out "V" shaped trails most of the walk up. The views are beautiful and despite the trail condition, it is worth the hike. When you "arrive" at the end of Stultz Trial, you being Tanner Trail - which is not marked (so you think you're still on Stultz Trail!) We decided to turn back after 5.8 miles which was quite a bit further than what is described as the overall length of Stultz Trail. We hiked with rather heavy backpacks with quite a bit of water. It was quite an effort and we took the trail in the heat of the day. Most of the trail is open to the sun so make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat that can cover your neck. Take along the DEET as there were some watery sections where biting flies were reproducing. OK. That's that for now - enjoy your hike and be well!

I loved this hike. Definitely an in and out. Ends at a large rock with a small waterfall to left. Can't really see the waterfall though. This ended up being one of the best hikes I've ever done. My dog Zoe and I did it in a couple hours. There a whole lot of spots where the trail deviates in multiple directions. Only one of those paths is the actual path but take each one. They all lead to somewhere pretty cool.

Very pretty trail. Some steepness at times. Great views of the valley to the East. A good workout.

Good up and back. Pretty steep but what goes up must come down so nice downhill finish. All in all a good work out with nice views.

This trail is a little uneven in spots but for the most part a great workout. Beautiful views and its a great place to take beginners!

Hiked down to canyon floor rather than to top of hill. Steep grade when you get off main trail. The canyon has some incredibly beautiful views.
