Great hike. Woods, meadows, wildflowers. Some of the tallest Ponderosa Pines I have seen in Front Range during a portion of the hike.

This trail has one of the most spectacular views when you get to the top you can see the reservoir and the mountain range at the same time. The hike is also very scenic on the way up and we saw a bunch of deer on the way down. It’s complete silence at the top and just so beautiful, would definitely recommend getting to the top around 7:30 pm, we went end of July and had a lot of shade on the way up. It took us just shy of an hour to get up.

First to Review

We went up the west side of Stout Loop and returned via Spring Creek Trail because it looked like there were more water crossings. This shortens the route by at least a mile. A view of the reservoir, little shade, some wildflowers, southwestern terrain, and a somewhat stagnant stream. Most people just hike to the waterfall which is a trickle. $9 entry. Lots of trail intersections...helpful to have app. For more info and pics: https://etbtravelphotography.com/2019/07/11/lory-state-park/
