The trail was all easy going, there were a few Rocky spots that made it a little rough. the scenery was beautiful. We brought rain gear which came in handy because we had a few light showers. The temperature was very mild, we had a picnic up on the top at an altitude of 12650' and it was beautiful. Pole Creek was closed due to high and fast-moving water.

Great trail, open all the way to the summit. Great views of the high country. If your in Silverton it’s a must do trail! Easy going, you will need 4x4. 7-3-19

Pretty simple trail, ran in 2 wheel drive; most vehicles could do well. Lots of mining debris, fantastic scenery.

I've driven up to the pass before from Howardsville , but not down the other side. Kinda rainy and cloudy the day I went though, so I didn't get to take in the view. I'll go up again some day when back in that area. Road was pretty good, with only one spot where you hope you don't meet someone coming from the other way, as it is down to a one lane width at that place. An otherwise nice drive like you'd expect when in the San Juan's

The first part of the trail was easy but the last ten miles before you come to the Rio Grande Reservoir were very rocky, rough and parts were washed out. It was anything but easy!

A beautiful pass to drive the first of August, for all the varieties of wildflowers. The hillsides are full of them towards the top of the pass,on both sides.
