Running

There is a $7 parking fee for this trailhead. off of 100th, there is a free lot. the trail today was windy AF. sand and dirt flying into the eyes and face made it for a rather miserable run back to the trailhead. headwind the whole way back- which is the most scenic part and I had to keep my head down the entire way to protect my eyes. even on a not as windy day, there are prettier trails to run on. gravel trail, making it a great place to ride. this would be a good training trail. if you want something prettier, there are better views elsewhere.

HikingGreat!

The end is picturesque but most of it is just walking in a giant spillway.

I love running this trail! Some fellow runners and bikers, but few and far between. It has small hills throughout making for a good challenge! It leads to Standley Lake where it’s nice to take a quick break and enjoy the view!

HikingNo shade

Recommend parking at 100th and Owens since it’s free. That being said, the lake and mountains are blocked from view most of this trail and there isn’t much else to see. I can see this being good for a run or bike workout, but the lack of shade or scenery left much to be desired. Maybe there’s more to see on the other side of the lake but the trail as it’s outlined on the app was pretty uninspiring.

A great city hike with a lake. My puppers cooled off in the lake and was dry by the time we got back to the car. BRING A LOT OF WATER!

Great running trail! Beautiful scenery with only handfuls of people walking their dogs, running, biking or on horseback.

Beautiful. Great variety of views. Safe trails. Great for dogs. Just don’t start where this says to...park at the off leash dog park off Simms, then walk across the street toward the lake. Follow lake around to the right. Then head back toward the road and pass the pollinating garden, Eagle blind, and nature center on the way back.

Park at the free lot at 100th and Owens. Trail dry and clear today despite overnight snow. On service roads rather than single track. Unique spillway structures and reservoir outlet. Hawks and waterfowl common.

Snow

it was a beautiful day for the hike. The Mountains on the front range were shining from the morning Sun, and the clouds just setting over them made it a magical moment.

This is a great spot to walk the dog. The path is clear of snow and not over-crowded. I have seen coyotes here. There’s also quite a few prairie dogs.
