Loved the view! Very dry and wide trail, no spikes needed. Very easy as well .
Trail was a bit muddy just in some parts. The view of the mountains is insane. It was a cold windy day but those mountains were so crisp. We saw a bald eagle on the icy lake.
Easygoing stroll with pretty views of the lake, especially at sunset. There are a few benches and a picnic area to dine al fresco. I usually see more bikes vs hikers but everyone is respectful communicating when a bike is approaching nearby. Grateful to have an 'easy' option for some outdoor fresh air nearby to my home. There is no shade. Otherwise, not sure why other people are critical of this otherwise. I would assume that they come from less experienced hikers. Don't hike in the middle of the day in the summer in an open area next to a lake then lol.
Tight first half with single file bike trail which wasn’t good for walking. Second leg was along a detritus strew beach. Headed back to the car when my partner became ill.
Bring plenty of water- not shaded- I was blessed with the opportunity to see a group of 6 or more birds of prey hunting in a group for the prairie dogs or other small prey. It was spectacular. I would recommend coming early to avoid becoming overheated unless you are prepared with plenty of hydration
Gorgeous lake trail in the city. Easy parking and trail access.
