A gentle hike with spectacular red rock views Roxborough State Park is a true natural gem, conveniently located in Southwest Denver. The park is one of the best places near Denver to encounter wildlife. The highlight of this hike will be the dramatic views of the red rock formations angling skyward. This trail offers some of the best views in the park, and is less crowded than the fountain valley trail. This is a state park so you will need to purchase a day pass for $6, or an annual pass for around $60. In order to protect the wildlife and the natural state of the park there are some restrictions here.Restrictions - Pets are not permitted in the park. - Visitors must remain on park trails. - Trails are closed to horses and bicycles. - Rock climbing is prohibited. - The park is open to day use only

Beautiful trail with lots of awesome views of the foothills. Also looks like a mini garden of the gods in places.

Beautiful views and good for kids. Get there early - after 11 you might have to wait to enter the park. We started around 9:30 and there was a decent amount of shade, still. You can park right at the start of willow loop trail, so you don’t need to go up to the visitors center. First mile is moderately strenuous uphill (or at least felt that way with our one year old on my back). It was pretty windy at the top but felt warm with the sun. The rest of the trail is easy and winds through wooded areas and open meadows.

Roxborough is a beautiful park! Watch out for the stumps in the middle of the trail as they are easy to not see and trip over while taking in the beauty.

Great trail with a gradual small climb. Gorgeous views of the red rocks. Absolutely loved this hike. We combined this trail with the Fountain Valley loop and it was perfect.

Almost 3 miles. Took about 1 hr 45 mins with lots of stops to take photos. Decent amount of shade was a surprise. Still, lots of sun exposure. We started on the trail near the visitors center. Was told this was a little easier as the incline to the top is stretched out more. You can also enter the trail from the parking lot closer to the entrance. I think the view of the ridge is probably more enjoyable coming down then going up.

Pretty easy trail. The rock formations are pretty -- similar to Red Rocks or Garden of the Gods. This trail took us about an hour and a half. Be prepared to pay for parking. We started early, around 7 am, and encountered a stag about 100 feet away. Beautiful.

Beautiful hike! I decided to go during the day today and it was wonderful. It's very green and many of the wild flowers are blooming. The trail is a little washed out near the top of the bluff but it's really not too bad.

Great north facing views of the rocks, mountains, and city from the top.

This is an easy trail with great views and lots of benches along the way to rest and enjoy the open fields and views of the rocks. Also some great city views. Best during the week since it's much less busy. Bummer you have to pay $7 every time you go but since it's a state park you have to. But worth it for sure.

Nice early morning hike on 1/1. I parked by the first parking are on the left when entering in the park, before the main visitor lot. You can hop right on the trail there. I then ended up back by the visitor center at the end of the hike, and the trail didn't really appear to lead back to my car, so just had to walk the short ways on the road back down to my vehicle. Nice views, only saw one other group of two hikers the whole time. Sections are icy but fine with my microspikes and taking it a little slow in areas.

Beautiful views of Roxborough and Hogback. The trail is icy and dangerous in spots right now.

The primary picture on this webpage doesn't do the red rocks justice. Great walk with beautiful views of the rocks, park and metro area.

Beautiful area, great views and overall an enjoyable hike. Trail is a little narrow in areas but nothing too bad. A trail to hike over and over again.
