A gentle hike with spectacular red rock views Roxborough State Park is a true natural gem, conveniently located in Southwest Denver. The park is one of the best places near Denver to encounter wildlife. The highlight of this hike will be the dramatic views of the red rock formations angling skyward. This trail offers some of the best views in the park, and is less crowded than the fountain valley trail. This is a state park so you will need to purchase a day pass for $6, or an annual pass for around $60. In order to protect the wildlife and the natural state of the park there are some restrictions here.Restrictions - Pets are not permitted in the park. - Visitors must remain on park trails. - Trails are closed to horses and bicycles. - Rock climbing is prohibited. - The park is open to day use only

Not a ton of shade so during the summer I could see this trail being rough. We had a horrible rain storm yesterday so it was really muddy. Ben he’s thru out for rest if needed.

Beautiful rock formations along this trail and you get to see them from multiple elevations. When you get to the top of the rim, the views are very nice looking both east and west. Park was fairly busy upon arrival on a Sunday and the entrance said the park was at full capacity but they let cars in as others left.

Great 3 mile trail decent climb. Wife is a beginner and did great. No dogs allowed. No creeks or water but lots of nature. Even saw a doe about 10 ft off the trail

Nice trail. Beautiful views. I little rough in some spots. It starts easy then gets rough the higher you go. Not a beginner trail.

Fun hike. I think it is a notch above easy though.

Beautiful rock formations and nice area for bird watching. At some points I was expecting a dinosaur to walk out from behind a rock

Calling this trail easy is super misleading for a beginner hiker. It's maybe easy if you hike often but if you're a total beginner or looking for something leisurely I would not recommend it.

Nice easy trail, the creek was pretty dry, but it was pretty and lush on the trail. Lots of benches in the shade for people to take breaks!

Great moderate trail with a nice view of the park. Beautiful wildflowers this time of year

Flowers are good right now, mud has mostly dried up. I would avoid going on rainy days, but the sun should keep the trail relatively dry. Everything should get more lush as the weather warms up.

Finished the loop, it’s all pretty lush right now. Would recommend, but limited shade.

This was a great family hike. The trail was in great condition and you can’t beat the views! I clocked a little over 3 miles but we went to every offshoot bench. Entrance to the park was the only issue (highlighted in other reviews so we expected a wait in the afternoon on Mother’s Day!). We only waited 25 minutes and a highlight of our time was the super knowledgeable and kind Rangers that were available as we waited to talk about the trails. He recommended that we do south rim counter clockwise to the summit and then just come back down because of the clay mud. But we decided to just go until we saw mud and it was a completely dry trAil the whole way. Great hike!!

Loved this short hike...beautiful views and quick incline so that you overlook the whole park. Very easy, well maintained trail.

This is a beautiful trail although it was quite muddy (went the day after a snowfall and it was a sunny day so a lot of melt). Good cardio workout with views all along. Probably not recommended for small children as some of the inclined can be a little steep at times, and again, if the trail is muddy like it was today kids may find it difficult (or they may just sit & play in it

Great trail but extremely muddy on 4/13. Like suction your boots off muddy, not kidding. Snow from the night before but trail itself was snow-free except in a couple locations but well packed. Beautiful scenery though and a relatively easy climb, definitely will return to do this in the fall to see the foliage.

Great views from the top of the trail. Mostly dry with only a few snowy or muddy patches.

Mud, snow, ice and a few dry spots! The views are worth it. Wore Sorrels with Yak's and poles.

This is a beautiful, well established trail with seriously good views. It was incredibly muddy today though. It started out all snow in the shade but from the top of the ridge to the end of night I was fighting some serious mud which was very hard to keep sure footing on.

Very icy on the west side of the loop on the inclines. Many people were falling/struggling. We hiked clockwise and that seemed to work out better so that we hit the ice downhill. Gorgeous hike as always with 60° temps mid December.

Nice quick hike. There was a large amount of bear scat on the trail, so make noise and be safe. Beautiful views but little no tree coverage for half of the trail so wear a hat and sunblock!

Overall an easy yet very lovely hike. I started from the visitor center trailhead and took a left at the fork for the willow creek trail, and completed the South Rim clockwise, which allows for better views in front of you as you hike back north. Trail is in great condition and fall leaves are starting to turn. Fair amount of bear scat around, so do keep your eyes pealed!
