Great gradual incline at the beginning. One very large ice patch a little over a mile in and spotty ice throughout the rest of the trail. (But spikes weren't needed.) We popped up to the top of Horsetooth as well, and the views were well worth the climb up.

Gorgeous hike! More ice and snow the higher up you went, but we were fine without spikes. Lots of parking when we arrived around 10:30am on a Sunday, but the lot was full by the time we finished up.

A little muddy, a little snowy/icy in places but mostly in good shape. Moderate traffic on the ascent until the trail split off from Horsetooth Rick Trail, then much lighter traffic. Managed it without spikes. Great views, especially on the Audra Culver section.

Great hike with plenty of awesome views from every angle. Some icy patches so wear safe footwear or even spikes if you have them. Brought the pup and he really enjoyed. You can also head up an extra .4 miles and get to the top of Horestooth Peak.

Ice just about completely melted, still some slick spots. Trail itself was relatively quiet compared to other trails in the area.

Very step on the way up but a nice view with pretty switch backs and rock formations. Saw a few deer. Snow is all melted not much mud at all.

Trail was mixed heavily between dry spots in the sun, somewhat wet ground and light snow under tree cover. I don't think microspikes are needed, but YMMV. Peaceful hike and a good workout, even saw a few deer at the summit. Such a different experience than trying to go during the weekend.

Great loop hike. Went counter clockwise to hit the hardest part first. After getting past the mountain it was smooth sailing through woods and rolling hills. Beautiful place.

Pretty views along the way! Not too crowded at 8a on Sunday but very crowded when we left. Not much shade on South Ridge so bring lots of water, especially for dogs. Some tough climbs in areas but nothing crazy.

Too packed. The smoke killed the views. Other than that is was a good hike.

FeeNo shade

The trail has little shade and wide on the South Ridge Trail. Primarily uphill/downhill. Do not miss Audra Culver... the views are spectacular. Definitely worth the hike and will definitely do it again. Make sure to carry plenty of water, especially in the summer.
