Nice loop past a fishing hole in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. There's no cell phone service. Trail starts at the Aspen Meadow campground and takes you past Dudes Fishing Hole - a great place to sink a line and relax . You can extend your hike or ride by following the Mule Deer trail to Panorama Point- follow the spur trail near the end of the loop.

Moderate trail mostly through the woods. There were some decent climbs on rocky slides. No panoramic views, but still an enjoyable hike. Trailheads were a little hard to find. Fishing hole was quite busy.

Tried MTB’ing this trail around sunset. Had to get back on the road at the Philip Rivers campground...ascends from about 9k to 10k altitude and very rocky uphill climb after the fishing hole.

Nice trail. $9.00 cash per car to use park. We tried to park along the county rd to access the trail from the starting point listed on the map at around 12:00pm, unfortunately a ranger drove by and nicely asked us to park at the aspen campsite (even though many other non-ticketed cars were parked along the county road—just unlucky I guess). We were able to find parking at the aspen campsite, luckily. Busy memorial weekend. The fishing hole was somewhat busy, but partner and I didn’t have a tough time finding a spot to set up. Fishing however was awful. We got one sucker.. we saw one person catch something but it was small. Not sure if they have stocked it yet, could have been just an off day. The counter-clockwise hike killed me. But I am so out of shape and this was my first hike of the year! Beautiful though. Not too many people on the trail. Some bikers and some climbers. Bathrooms were open. Will go back!

Moderate trail through some old burn areas. Easy to get to from Denver after work for a sunset hike.

Love this trail. All bathrooms and visitor center CLOSED at Golden Gate (thanks COVID-19). Ranger not selling annual pass, only day pass. (Bring cash!) Started around 3p on 5/17... literally saw one other hiking couple. Everyone seemed to be congregating at Dude’s pond. Hike is not “difficult” IMO, but there are a few uphill sections. Really nice 3mi hike through mostly forest. Last October we saw lots of snow and even the snowshoe hare! Today it was 99% dry and lovely.

Snowshoe Hare Trail was a nice little afternoon jaunt. I would actually categorize this as a (Colorado) Easy hike. What little elevation change there was happened very gradually except for about a 1/10th of a mile stretch of uphill just after Dude's Fishing Hole (hiking the loop clockwise). My girlfriend, who has had ankle injuries in the past, commented that a couple sections did have loose rocks on the trail that kept her attention off the scenery and on the trail for foot placement, but I would guess that less than a third of this short trail was rocky. The trail was generally well maintained and free of snow (on 5-17-20). The trail was well marked with Showshoe Hare footprints on posts with helpful signs at intersections that included distance to next campground/trailhead. The parking lot at the trailhead was full, so we parked behind another car on the shoulder. Despite the shoulder being sturdy, apparently used often for parking, and plenty wide so as to be well out of traffic, the park rangers politely asked that the vehicles parked on the shoulder not do so with a slip of paper -not a ticket- under the wiper. I did notice a truck parked that did appear to have a ticket. There's a $9 day use fee. You will definitely want to remember cash to pay at the clearly marked fee box/post and clearly display your tag in your windshield. The weather was beautiful on this Sunday we hiked, but I was surprised that the trail itself was not busier. We passed probably somewhere between 10 and 20 people and 3 mountain bikers on the 3 mile loop. There were a couple couples at Dude's Fishing Hole fishing and some climbers on ropes up on Dude's Throne above the pond. All in all, a great, peaceful hike less than an hour from Denver.

I hiked yesterday (2/13/20) and it was a beautiful day! The trail hadn’t been used in awhile it looked like, as we had to remake the trail through the deep snow with our snowshoes. But it was amazing! Peaceful trail through the woods. We were the only people it seemed. Snowshoes definitely needed right now:) Will be doing this trail again soon!

No views, in the woods the whole time. Snow packed as of 1/25/20. Feels like an endless loop through the woods. Decent workout, but underwhelming.
