Great cross country skiing trail at Snow Mountain Ranch.

Fun little snow hike ending with a small waterfall. Good for all abilities but suggest waterproof shoes until things totally freeze over.

Great trail for the kids! My 4 year old loved it. We took the Waterfall Trail all the way to the falls, which was gorgeous (a nice destination point for little walkers), and took the Larson Trail back to the parking lot. The Waterfall is wider and groomed the entire way. The Larson Trail is a bit steeper, more narrow and a bit more of a traditional hiking trail. It was a great mix of paths. Kept things interesting the entire way. The loop ended up being about 3.25 miles round trip.

At the beginning of the trail it says its wheelchair and stroller friendly. I would not reccomend bring a wheelchair or stroller. It would be impossible to push up hill. There is almost no shade, so bring sunscreen. The wildflowers are absolutely beautiful the trail is gorgeous. The waterfall is amazing as well.

Family friendly fairly easy up & back. Very well maintained. Saw a moose lying in the shade just over 1/2 mile up the trail - very impressive! Not many people can be around the waterfall at a time - can be congested. Go early to avoid crowds. Also, check out the Gold Mine cave about a half mile from the parking lot.

Nice trail up to a small waterfall. Take the Larson trail back to the parking lot. If you combine the two trails you get some meadows and water as well as an alpine forest. Pretty easy 2.5 mile loop.

Didn’t like this trail as well as Adams waterfall (near Grand Lake) or Monarch lake trail East of Lake Granby. Just about all of the trail was sunny, fortunately it wasn’t that hot. Trail was well maintained and not muddy. Scenery not as pretty as other hikes.

really easy trail. easily marked. got lucky and didn't have to pay for a day pass to hike the trail but the signs do say need to pay day pass. very beautiful though.

Not a fun trail at all. I would not recommend this one. The fact that the YMCA owns it is very confusing. They couldn’t tell us if we needed the day pass or not to take this trail. Did get to see a porcupine though.

Easy, well-marked trail with moderate incline. Beautiful scenery. Snow on the trail prohibited me from getting to the waterfall at this time of year. Did not have proper footwear for the traverse and was hiking alone. Suggested in June or later and is accurate.

Nice easy hike to go on with family. Our 5 year old did great. The waterfall was halfway in between and was a nice little reward. Nice photo op. Highly recommend.

Great hike today!

We were also turned away by the sign saying wristbands are required. A YMCA staff member confirmed via email - the wristbands cost $20/person.

We were coming home from Grand Lake when we saw this trail on the map. We were excited to try it until we got to the parking area and saw that wristbands were required for that area. We went back to the YMCA office and were told that we could buy a hiking pass for $30 total for our family of four, or day passes for $60 total. We had no interest in hanging out at the YMCA... we just wanted to see the waterfall. I am writing this review so that others know that this is not a free trail to go on, which is disappointing.

This is a nice steady incline hike. Very kid friendly, well maintained, mile markers on trail, falls at the top and the option to loop around the lake back down. Lots of beautiful flowers, plenty of wildlife, dog friendly and stellar views. There is NO FEE to hike or park, ample parking and easy to find. If you need a map, just go into the main building on the left hand side as you enter the YMCA and Snow Mountain Ranch and ask the front desk for the trail map to the falls, very friendly. We live here, but a great starter trail for others to acclimate to the elevation. Stay hydrated and enjoy the views!

This was a great trail for my 7 and 4 year old kids. The perfect length, nothing too strenuous and a great reward at the end. The waterfall is just beautiful. The trail is pretty sunny, the Larson side is much shadier. We saw several bird species, squirrels, chipmunks and even a porcupine. The wildflowers were beautiful! Well maintained trail, easy to read and follow, bathrooms at the trailhead. We had no issue parking but it was a bit of a colder day, the lot is small so I can see it getting crowded sometimes.

Easy hike with a beautiful waterfall at the end. There was a little snow and some mud in spots. The only bad thing was the trail start was hard to find for my group.

Good quick beginner hike. My group used it as a test to acclimate ourselves to the elevation. There was some snow and played a little game of snowball baseball.
