HikingGreat!

This is my fav trail in Colorado of the ones I’ve done. We were there in late July and the wildflowers were absolutely gorgeous. We did not hike all the way to the top because there’s a view that’s about a half a mile from the top which is really the last good view and it is the best view. Basically the last half a mile you’re just in the woods and then you turn around so I didn’t seem worth it after climbing so much to get where we were. You do share the trail with bikes which can be a little frustrating because it’s not a wine trail but definitely worth your time. It is heavily trafficked as well so you definitely want to bring a mask or a buff or something so you can cover your mouth.

I completed this hike on 7/30. The wildflowers were still pretty bright. There are some steep bits as you get closer to the end of the trail. There is one lookout that offers incredible views of Mt Crested Butte. My total mileage was 6.09 parking by the trailhead. If you don’t want to drive far to hike, this is a good option.

One of my favorite trails in Colorado to date. Hiked it with a friend and pup. Perfect mix of shade and meadows/sun. Gorgeous views most of the hike. Some steeper parts but overall mild. Need to go back with a mountain bike!

Not a lot of shade, have to share with my bikers. But beautiful aspens, nice views of the range and lots of birds, wildflowers.

Great trail. Stay to the right at the beginning and not the road so you don’t miss the aspen grove. Great steady climb. Very doable.

We took the fork to the right at the old cabin at the very beginning and were rewarded with much better views. Similarly, going up Snodgrass mountain road rather than the trail as marked ended up being a lot better. Bring bug spray and please keep your dogs leashed.

Meh... Pros: Wild flowers and tons of interesting plants and insects. Cons: Way too many people, most of the "amazing views" are of town which I wasn't stoked on. I'm not sure if the person who recommended this trail talked it up too much or if it was actually super disappointing.

Absolutely gorgeous, views around every corner. Lots of mountain bikers, a few bugs (more so in the enclosed woodsy areas and at the top). The AllTrails loop doesn’t include the final slog to the top, which I agree with: there are no good views for the remainder of the way up and the flies and mosquitoes become noticeable, but not bad. I went counterclockwise and took a single track path the long way back which made it a little longer and offered extra views on the way down.

the bugs made the hike less enjoyable for sure. i decided to hike further on the trail to the peak but there are no views, hike ends in the trees

Stunning views and an overall great hike! Mix of sun and shade. Some mosquitos so wear bug spray. From the trailhead the loop to the right was even more gorgeous than the left side. Top of trail isn’t marked so you have to look at the map to turn around which is odd.

Great trail for hiking. Loads of lupine blooming at the start. A field of purple! And some columbine and mules ears. Beautiful views and aspen groves. I loved it!

Not CLOSED, by the way. The first mile and a half is pretty scenic. The last half mile to the peak is surrounded by tree. No panoramic view at the top. Good elevation gain for exercise.
