I read a tip that sunrises were amazing here but sunsets were just as awesome. The sunset did not disappoint. I came with a dog I’m watching and she was much more excited than I was to enjoy the beauty of the lake. We arrived around 6:45pm knowing that sunset was at 7:30. The views were beautiful. There were a lot of people there and plenty with dogs of their own. It was still lovely to enjoy. We set out to walk the entire lake. I let Abby waddle into the water a bit. Golden retrievers are tough to keep out of water. So she got a little taste. She saw plenty of geese, ducks, and birds to keep her excited and wanting to barrow through the walk. We saw people fishing, jogging, cycling, strolling, picnicing, rowing and taking photos. At the end of the walk as dusk was transitioning to dark, it became windy and light rain came down. But we made it to the car just in time. 2.6 miles of flat paved east trail.

Not a hike at all, paved pathway around Sloans. Beautiful nonetheless! Normally pretty busy.

I wouldn't say this is a hike by any means as it's all flat. But it's a great walking trail and excellent for strollers and dogs. There's also several playgrounds around the lake so if the kids wanted to get out and play for a bit...it's an option.
Only downsize is already mentioned from other folks, but there's tons of Geese and their droppings, everywhere. Which actually sometimes would make certain spots smell.
But overall....easy walk, great views, fun location.

Awesome park to run in, especially if you are just starting out at higher altitude because its flat! I run by myself so I was happy to see many moms with kids and older women on bikes around the lake, especially for 10 am on a Monday. It looked like park services had cleaned up most of the goose poop but there are geese everywhere throughout the park. And as a minnesotan whose used to running around lakes, it made me a little sad to see such poor water quality, because there is nothing better than jumping in after a hot summer run.

Beautiful park overall, with superb views of the mountains and the Denver downtown skyline, especially at sunset! The major downside, however, is the goose poop...it’s EVERYWHERE!

Nice trail around the lake with great city and mountain views. Downsides: disgusting goose poop everywhere and “toxic” algae in lake so no dogs or swimming.

This lake is beautiful with a ton of activity. Lot of people use the area for a huge variety fo activities so it is quite busy. The path is paved and of course plenty of Geese so great for a family stroll.

Fun park to run, or just hang out in. Usually pretty busy, and lots of water fowl so watch out for poop! Nice paved path that goes completely around the lake, with a few dirt paths that also go fully around and closer to the water.

Great city park, has a awesome view of the city as well as the mountain. Very well traveled, and a great place to bike, run, or workout.

This loop is entirely paved and is very well traveled. There are bathrooms on either side of the lake which is nice to have. The lake so beautiful and there are nice views of the city. I prefer a softer surface to run on, otherwise this is a great place to run.

I have walked this twice a week, two rounds each. There's a side walk around the entire lake so it's good for strollers, carriages and wheelchairs. Benches along the way for those who just want to sit and enjoy the beauty. Lots of runners. Watch your feet as the geese are plentiful and leave their markings.
