The trail was beautiful...very steep for the first mile but not slippery or dangerous. We continued to the Oak Creek tr. turn and followed that all the way back to town. The creek was flowing but we were able to wade across safely. We clocked 5.2 miles total. Grippy hiking shoes are best...no need for boots. Poles would also help on some of the steep stretches. We did the hike w/o poles, no problem. We'll definitely do this hike again...great cardio workout! FYI...we are in our mid 60s

This hike is straight up for the first few miles, maybe more. There are only a few switchbacks, but a steep uphill trail. Not for children or seniors, this trail is labeled medium but I’d say this is borderline difficult. There are LOTS of mosquitos, so bring bug spray. Multiple look out spots with great views of the mines.

I was only able to go so far. There were lots of downed trees on the trail, and the snow really obscured it after a few miles.
