Creek crossings and network of roads for OHVs, lots of camping The first part of this trail follows a valley floor, winding back and forth across a rocky creek. The second half climbs out of the valley and crosses flat forest land. The flat area has many fun side roads to explore and plenty of camp spots for large camping units. Makes a great weekend getaway for ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes. This trail can be combined in a sequence with Kelly Flats and Bald Mountain Road. (Both available as eGuides from FunTreks on EveryTrail.) Closed April16 to June 14 according to 2010 MVUM. Located in Roosevelt National Forest. For current conditions call Canyon Lakes Ranger District (970) 295-6700. Rocky, muddy and washed out in places, but nothing overwhelmingly difficult. Aggressive, high-clearance SUVs can do it with patience and careful tire placement.

This trail had some challenging sections, but also had some beautiful views. Be mindful of the rocks, some of them are very sharp. I have a 94' yj with stock suspension and it made it through with very little trouble.

One of my favorites. Easy drive even with a stock height truck. I've done it with a stock 95 GMC Sonoma and a stock 93 Nissan Pathfinder. If going with stock height there are a couple sections where tire placement is a bit more critical but with a spotter it's a breeze. Several fantastic spots to camp along the trail, and at least one that has enough room for a group to camp (3 or 4 trucks worth of tents and people). Bring firewood and pack out what you pack in. It's well worth the drive and time. But make sure to get there early because it has become quite popular and the best camp spots are grabbed quick.

I liked it. For the most part the trail wasn't very stressful at all, but still offered some "fun" obstacles. A stock JK and JKU rubicon traversed it with no problems.
