We took our dogs last summer and were all beat from the heat. But I thought I’d try again since we had a wetter spring. This place is just dry and hot. The 2012 fire cleared out some of the area and there isn’t much shade (unless you’re down on the river fishing or at the picnic area). Definitely take extra water and snacks. For the $6 parking fee, lack of cover, pretty boring trails, this won’t be a first choice for hiking near the Poudre in the summer.
