Beautiful Canyon with Red Sandstone, grassy fields and ponds. Rock climbing is only allowed if you get a permit from the Garden of the Gods visitor center and with proper equipment. The Garden of the Gods is world famous, but two miles south of the Garden "Red Rock Canyon Open Space" invites hikers to enjoy the same geological strata in a much less "Victorian" setting. The land now included in the "Open Space" has been in use for at least 9,000 years, where because of its proximity to Fountain Creek early American settlers made their homes. In the more recent past, the Dakota Sandstone layer was used to quarry building materials, and portions of the park received trainloads of gold ore from the Cripple Creek mines to be refined. Since 2003 the city of Colorado Springs has developed this property into one of its premier parks, containing nearly 10 miles of connected trails suitable for hikers, bikers, and horse back riders (some trails are restricted to only one type of adventurer). The park is open year round from dawn to dusk, and with such varied terrain, you'll never tire of visiting and creating new ways of enjoying this delightful topography.

This was a fun hike, not too physically demanding. It was sprinkling so did get a little wet/muddy, but not bad. Solid hike if you have a couple hours to burn.

one of my favorite spots. As a heavier gal this spot pushes me out of my comfort zone (especially on that first climb uphill) there is plenty of mixed elevations that give me the much needed workout to kick my lungs into overdrive. the views are gorgeous, people are friendly and supportive, and there is endless puppies to acknowledge along the trails be sure to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated

The open space was nice. Parking was decent, but I'd say the earlier the better to arrive. Maps are on-site of various trails to venture. Bikers and hikers mainly. Will be going back again!

Beautiful day to go on a short hike with my family (hubby and 5yo) we did a 3 mile loop and it was perfect! Lots and lots of people here though and small trails for passing.

This is a lovely park space, but I wouldn’t recommend this for what I consider a hike. Definitely family friendly, and dog friendly, but a very high trafficked park. Hard to find quiet space as someone is never too far away, with that being said, the views are still beautiful and I frequent this place often for quick morning/evening walks! I’d recommend this park if you’re a very beginner hiker or just starting out mountain biking!

Beautiful trail but very little shade so definitely bring the sun screen and water!

Nice trail! Not too crowded. Dog friendly. They even have a small “no leash” area for dogs to run around freely! Our dog loved it! Beautiful scenery. A bit windy so bring a jacket.

Cool rock formations, but kind of a one-note trail. Seems more fun for mountain bikers.

I love this area. I do wish it was a little less trafficked, but once you get out of the main corridor or rock it is easier to social distance. It is hard to run so I wouldn’t recommend this trail as a running trail.

Definitely recommend this trail. It has great hills and an amazinggggg view!

Very pretty up here but not like “trails” it is a large space like it says with many options to go around the area. Family oriented, dogs, bikes, horses. Not a hard hiking area.

Redoing my review as this is NOT A BIKE TRAIL. It is marked as biking on the app, it’s not. The designated trail that it has you follow runs you up or down steep staircases and parts that I don’t even know that you could go over. Needs to be changed, as the signs also say bikes are prohibited.

Hard as hell hill at the beginning. But a great location.

First time here and we will definitely be back. Glad we arrived early as parking lot on weekend did fill up quickly. It was muddy in a lot of places but that’s expected this time of year.

This is a Beautiful place to Hike or Mountain Bike. There are many different trails to choose from; all Gorgeous with Spectacular views. This is a popular place, so many people explore here, yet it never feels very crowded because the trail system is very wide & vast. The Red Rocks are Breathtaking.

If you haven't done this loop in the snow, you're missing out! Its absolutely stunning. We got a few inches yesterday and I still easily managed the full loop with just boots. Definitely recommend!
