A little bit of ice and snow, but easily doable without crampons. Mid that will be icy if there’s another freeze. We did meadow creek to lily pad lakes and took salt lick trail down. Then we walked back to meadow creek trailhead along I-70. Just look at the topo ans follow the ridges to a gravel road that goes to the roundabout by the trailhead
Decent trail, not much to see other than the Aspens. Also the trail ends at the intersection with another trail (Lilly Pad) this to say that there isn't a "grand finale", the trail just ends. Having said that, good trail for a nice stroll and also a nice trail to walk your dogs.
Very nice moderate hike. A very low grade slope all the way up made for a pretty easy moderate hike. The first two miles are a wide trail and perfect for trail running before narrowing path to single track. Great views at midpoint. Then hiking thru tree lines and forest setting...so be aware that not much in way of any scenic views between mile 2-3 on way up. We decided to turn around at end versus taking the trails further onward to the lakes. All around a great hike and well maintained trail. Next time will want to plan enough time and do trail and continue on to the lakes. Not crowded and great hike. Only reason for 4 stars versus 5 stars is not much scenic views in final mile of hike up...otherwise perfect. Enjoy.
It isn’t very well marked so it’s easy to get lost, and some parts are overgrown, but overall a fun hike!
Salt lick trail isn’t well marked in places. I followed someone else’s trail recording and it ended at the lily pad lake trail. I took a left to the lake. On my way back o went off to the right on a trail with boards. I thought this would be a short detour, it was not. Total was over 7.5 miles and beautiful and wonderful.
super fun trial. when they say moderate it's only because there is a slight incline pretty much the whole way up but was easy enough to enjoy
Pretty hike in the aspens which are changing colors. Family friendly and well marked. Good for all ages.
