We drove from Montezuma up Deer Creek then back down Saint John’s - I would do this in reverse in hindsight. The trail is not marked well as there are a few offshoots that are dead ends. Saint John’s lives up to the “Hard” rating. Boulders on the trail tore up my side steps on the drivers side. Saint John’s is really rocky & bumpy in parts if you are in a Jeep. There are areas that will scratch your Jeep if that matters to you. The views are AMAZING! Our daughter played in the snow up top. We’ve jeeped & 4-wheeler’d in Ouray & other areas in Southern Colorado. This loop was one of our favorites. We had numerous warnings to stay off Radical Hill up top. Deer Creek was a lot of fun. Saint John’s had a few intense hills with boulders.

We drove the first mile to just past the first water crossing and then hiked up to Glacier Mountain. You are walking up a 4x4 road. We started about 1:30 in the afternoon. There wasn’t much shade on the way up, and it was hot. Much of it was very steep. But the views at the top are amazing!
