The trail maps have this listed as a moderate, not an easy trail....Its rock at times and I think what makes it moderate is the ascent to the Rim....If you were an older person you might have challenges with the Rim ascent, but all in all a good trail....Might want to consider changing this to moderate

Great hike. Parked at the north entrance and went up the ridge. Great views and places to stop and enjoy the sun. A few spots were tough to follow the trail. Very busy.

Pleasant trail. I went counterclockwise which seems like it might be slightly easier. If I come back I'll try clockwise. I think it might be more rewarding and enjoyable with the hike up first and then coming back in the canyon where it's hopefully still cooler.

Great in-town ish trail system. Can be hot. This one is 50/50 shady. Rim side has views, Creek bottom is nice and foresty. Not too difficult, just a tad steep into and then out of the canyon. We did it clockwise. The north end of this park seems much less crowded on a weekend than the south end. 4.2 miles RT. Dogs enjoyed it, water in the creek bottom.

Pretty nice trail that isn't too crowded. I ran into people every so often, but not too much. the parking lot at the trail head only has about a dozen spots, and when I got there at 8 there was only one left. $9 day fee for the park, but there's a station at the entrance that accepts credit cards. lots of sun exposure, so be prepared for that.

We hiked this trail on a Sunday (July 5 2020) starting around 10:30am. The beginning of the trail was pretty busy but the parking wasn’t full yet - for the time of day the trail wasn’t as busy as others can be. We took the counterclockwise route (Creek Trail Loop first, then Rim Rock). We didn’t find the hike very challenging except the transition from the creek up to Rim Rock where the rock stairs get fairly steep. There is a very big difference between the trails, with the creek trail being fairly shaded with lots of trees and the Rim Rock trail being rocky and flat with zero shade. Overall it was a good trail and some parts were muddy so here’s what I found helpful: we parked at the West Trailhead because it seemed like a short walk in to connect with the trail. Once you walk a little it starts at the Creek Trail Loop and you can choose to go left or right (hence the loop bit). Since we went right we came to the small waterfall first and there were several places to stop along the creek where we got our dogs wet. There was a small bit where we got confused because there is another sign for the Creek Loop Trail. It looked like we needed to follow straight which would be right when you look at the sign, but that leads to a small meadow and another parking lot. Maybe that’s where we should’ve parked? Anyways we turned back and then went left at the sign and came to a rocky area with lots of people hanging out near the creek. After following the creek for a while it opens up a bit and there is what looks like an old structure of some kind on the right - this is Dam Historical Trail. We went up the stairs a bit but turned around - we should’ve taken Dam Trail because it was VERY muddy on the Creek Trail Loop and getting a bit overgrown. As soon as you come out of that area there’s another set of stairs up where it connects to Rim Rock Trail. For a while it’s just open rocky meadow so it can be hard to follow an actual trail, but if you follow the rim of the canyon (we stayed about 50 feet from the edge with the dogs) then you will still be able to find the trail - parts of the trail are marked with cairns in this area. After the mostly flat canyon walk you start to descend back down and then follow the creek again for a ways before getting back to the parking lot. Like I said we enjoyed the hike. It was about 5.3 miles for all the detours we took and just under 3 hours. See photos for the hints I mentioned. Thanks!

Very nice trail, mostly easy with some light to moderate scrambles. Climbing through the creek bed is well worth your time. Recommend the counterclockwise route that puts the rim walk on the second half, though you could reverse that for a cool down in the creek as you end.

Great trail! No bikes. Not too steep. Offers a lot of shade in some areas and a lot of great spots to take a picture and have a snack. We totaled 5 miles. Bathrooms are up the road at west end trail head.

Beautiful trail with gorgeous views from the top of the rim. Amazing geology. Mix of shade and open areas. Get there early to beat the heat and take hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.

It was a nice hike for a Tuesday morning. Not many people with pretty views. Some areas are pretty sunny but there are pockets of shade pretty frequently. This was my 2nd time coming here so I enjoyed it enough to come back.

The loop is scarcely marked with trail directions. The west side of the loop had better scenery however the eastern overlook was grand.

Beautiful views! We did the hike with 5 kids and they loved it. Make sure to bring appropriate sun protection as there are not a lot of shaded areas along the trail.
