Water isn't even that hot, area around the spring is disgusting, beer cans and other trash everywhere. Its a damn shame, it could be a really nice area but people have ruined it.

I was there a few days ago. It's not closed. Seems the 1-star reviews are being left by locals who don't want outsiders coming in. I found the hot springs to be pretty decent for a primitive location. There's a decent sized "hot" pool that runs down to some shallow "warm" pools. I'd go here again. Really easily accessible from the road. I walked 3 minutes in flip flops.

Explorers beware! When we reached the hot springs there were 2 naked men bathing in the springs.

Absolutely disgusting. Dirty underwear, used condoms, trash everywhere. Steer clear. Don’t bother wasting your time.

GO! It is definitely OPENED! Super easy to get to also. There is a trail that goes straight down from the parking lot if you want to get there about a minute faster, but if you walk a little further down the road there is a very easy, level trail. The parking lot is small though. We were in an rv so we had to park in the turn out-right off of the highway. But still no big deal. The actual tub and area surrounding it was very clean and the view was beautiful! It started raining as we got there but that just added to the beauty. A group of people showed up shortly after we arrived and asked that we let them know when we left and they hung out by the river until we did (about 15 minutes later). I feel like that was very polite and what everyone should do if you happen to go and people are already there. This stop was one of the best parts of our Colorado camping vacation!

I honestly can not believe the bad reviews about this place. This place was one of the best stops on our weekend trip to Colorado. We stopped here on our way to telluride and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was just a short distance from where we parked. (I wore flip flops to get from the car to the hot springs and made it just fine) although it would’ve been easier in tennis shoes. The hot springs itself though i found extremely nice especially for being natural. The area was clear and clean and plenty of room and right by the river. Will definitely be stopping here more often.

Just went to this and it was awesome. Super warm and pretty. Very clean and in a clearer area. It’s like a 2 minute walk from the parking spots. It’s right next to the river too.

There's no excrement. It's not closed. it's pretty sweet. But share it, it's public. If you decide to go nude, old high school acquaintances will happen to show up. Happened to a friend.

Filthy/human excrement all over the place, several needles seen near the springs, smells like garbage and several vagrants/homeless people camped out lounging around in the nude. Steer clear. Much better Hot Springs in Ouray.

My wife and I recently traveled to Telluride and decided to check out Rico Hot Springs while in the area but to our surprise it was closed off much like Ben said in the previous review. Don’t waste your time.
