There are about 5 miles of soft surface trail. Reservoir Ridge is the northern end of the 8.2 mile Foothills Trail. The Foothills Trail connects Pineridge, Maxwell and Reservoir Ridge natural areas. Trail markers show you the way. Biking on the Foothills Trail is for the experienced cyclist. Visitors to this foothills natural area enjoy its rugged trails, access to the 8.2 mile Foothills Trail, wildlife viewing opportunities and a feeling of remoteness- all close to Fort Collins. Youll see dramatic rock outcroppings, grasslands, mountain mahogany shrubs and a few ponderosa pines. Views of the city, the foothills and Horsetooth Reservoir are great from the trails!

This is my favorite trail for running in Fort Collins! Can be fairly busy depending on time of day. No tree cover so plan accordingly.

My favorite of the Ft Collins Natural Area hikes so far. Fairly short hiking options unless you take the Foothills Trail. Very little shade, so plan to go early. No bugs to speak of. Great for bird watching around the Overlook Loop. Saw 1 small snake, but no Rattle Snakes today. Bring lots of water and sunscreen and have a great hike!

No fee, no restroom. I hiked this trail on a very windy day so pretty quiet out there. Normally, lots of bikes which makes it iffy on this narrow trail. I saw 2 small snakes cross the trail together at the beginning, but they were not rattlers. This trail can get busy, so go early. Lot of sun exposure also.

Combo of ice and mud. Got here at 830 and didn’t see another soul until coming down. Did the Foothills Trail and North Loop.

Trail wasn’t too crowded even on a beautiful 68 degree weather day. Trail was also completely dry. No shade to be found, so make sure to wear sunscreen!

Trail was nice and dry today. Great for trail running. Extremely busy on a gorgeous Sunday like today. People seem to be abiding by social distancing for the most part. Very enjoyable and so close to town.

A lot more fun of a trail that I expected! Offers a view of the front range and Horsetooth reservoir! Very slight elevation gain, nothing too tough, great for a walk to get away from the house quarantine! Parking: pay attention to the signs. I got a $25 ticket for parking in the “trailers and buses only spot” I didn’t even notice the sign when I parked and it’s a very small parking lot.

4/4 trail dry got last parking spot at 1130 am. not too many people out on the trail. only saw 3 bikers today. they must have gone elsewhere today. people need to remember to pick up their dog poop!!! I'm seeing way more poop on trail and also bags left on side. we picked up a bunch on our way down today also folks that dont normally hike need to make sure they review trail etiquette!! uphill has the right of way for folks hiking! if you are downhill hiking please remember to step 6 feet off the side! thank you!! great day for a hike!

01/22/20 weds. got there at 9 am on weds. no one else in lot at that point. lots of dry patches on the trail. however there is also still a lot of mud and ice and snow patches. be prepared to have your shoes or boots get muddy. and to go slow on the icy patches. very windy out today. reservoir ridge is a nice close by trail, but the views are not stunning.

pretty good mountain bike training ride. Trail is plenty wide and starts at flat and then gets into some climbing with some rocky technical sections. good for an after work ride. No shade. Just make sure you actually pump your tires, unlike me
