Thought nice because right outside condo. We tried to access off Rainbow drive and met a big DO NOT TRESPASS under penalty of prosecution sign complete with yellow hazard tape and a handwritten sign saying trail closed. Message heard. So we had to bush whack a bit to get to the Hawk Trail which we took to Chickadee down to Fraser River. Hope county /city can find a way to connect rendezvous and Idlewild systems in a friendly manner.

This trail has the wrong name. This is part of the Idlewild trail system. The trails shown are NOT the Red Gate/Ridge Trail. What is shown is Meadow Trail, Crosstrails, Ditch Trail. South Fork, Burn Out Loop, South Fork, Crosstrails, Meadow.

Part of trail at end does not loop around. Saw moose and fox.

Great trail with a lot of different options. But also a lot of mountain bikers.

“Red Gate” as shown here isn’t closed nor is it a trail but a series of trails (Homestead, Burnout Loop, Southfork Loop, etc) n the Rendezvous trail system. The actual Red Gate trail is currently closed but isn’t a part of the trail shown here. It doesn’t “feature a river” is mostly used by mountain bikers, doesn’t start on a closed trail and so forth. Recommend that visitors obtain a free trail map at the Winter Park town visitor center. Currently these trails are muddy in spots and it snowed yesterday. Give it another week and use a decent trail map there’s no signs out there.

This trailhead is closed now due to the beginning of it being on private property. You can access it through Rendezvous neighborhood on Friendship Dr. though.

Easy trail used by both hikers and bikers. Dog friendly. Not very crowded even on a holiday weekend.

If you are hiking with dogs, I would highly discourage this hike. Seriously, I had to hop off trail for at least 60 bikers (very polite bikers) but still... not relaxing at all as you have to remain hyper vigilant at all times.Great for bikers though I’m sure!

Went the first day of October - peak color. Really beautiful trail and very flat, so good for small kids or elderly. Surprisingly not too busy for an autumn Sunday with great weather. The further you hike the prettier it gets!

A mostly easy woodland trail through some private conservancy areas as. Well as public lands. It was just what we were looking for—a hike with not too much altitude or difficulty. Located near a neighborhood, the trail is shared with family groups, walkers, and cyclists. Map of location needs refining to show trailhead at on intersection of Mulligan Street and Rainbow Road. Complex of trails offers many variations. The part we walked offered only a few great views—mostly trail wound through mixed woodland (spruce, Aspen, and pine—some killed by pine beetle).

this one is nice and flat, obviously for mountain biking but as long as you are aware of your surroundings passing bikers is easy. nice trees for hammocking and really rewarding with the views for how flat it is. You could go for a long time on this trail. I made it just passed the scenic viewing area of bottle peak with the bench along the creek and turned back after hammocking. overall about 4 hours.

A network of many trails in this area, many intersections to keep choosing from. Nice easy trails to relax on. One though had several downed trees at the end of May. Lots of shade. Great views when the trees clear.

Great bike trail and walking trail however I would not hike here if you are looking for a moderate level...I would say this should be classified as easy. Really pretty trail...lots of tall trees.
