7-30-17 slight incline but great hike. Note: This trail multi use, i.e. used by horses too. It has a trail called eagle view that connects which is worth doing. Nearby is a frisbee golf course for those interested in doing a little hike and play with family too.

Enjoyable day with the family. Saw about 10 other hikers, mostly close to parking area. Extended the Ravens Roost/Oxen loop to include the shorter out and back to panoramic view of Eagle's View loop. Very worth the extra time/effort. If you want the harder vertical up Raven's Roost, turn right at the first junction. After a fairly tough climb up for our first day in Denver we began to notice all other hikers had taken a left at the junction which is less steep to the top. Rookie mistake. Some wild flowers, lots of butterflies, loud grasshoppers, a woodpecker, some really interesting red/orange bird, and the cry of an eagle (didn't see the bird but heard the call close overhead).

Took the drive south-ish from the park along the Platte River through Pike National Forest to Manintou Springs after the hike.

Great fun for me and my son. Light rain the entire hike but it ended up making the whole experience more peaceful and cool.

Taking the Eagle trail to the top of the ridge is worth the hike. At the trail head, there is plenty of paved parking and restrooms.

Really enjoyed this hike - perfect sunny June afternoon spot that's not too crowded with easy parking. I went with my 75 year old dad and good friend and our kids. She and I both carried our 21lb. baby sons plus packs and our group was able to complete the hike and feel CO legit. The views at the top of Eagle View Trail were truly beautiful and worth the effort. My tracking had the total hike at .2 miles longer than the GPS says here but no complaints. Recommend the shady side (left side?) of the hike both up and down to avoid exposure and some scree.

First hike of the season. A little muddy on the way up, and fairly steep going up, then easy on the way down. Took our dogs and they loved it. Not too crowded, but busy.
