Great little trail. Road turns to dirt about 2 miles out from trailhead and is pretty bumpy but we saw plenty of sedans driving it just fine. Plenty of parking and a wide easy to follow path. Went on a Saturday morning, passed quite a few people fishing and some other hikers. Beautiful views at the reservoir! Would recommend.

Great trail. Easy hike. We passed very few people, mostly carrying fishing gear. Trail itself was very well maintained.

Trail conditions are great. No snow anywhere. Water was chilly but perfect to soak the feet after a long hike. Parking lot was pretty crowded. We turned around at about 4 miles. The trail can get pretty dusty with dry dust flying. Luckily the mask i was wearing helped with that too. Very few people were wearing masks. Update: for dog owners who take their pets for a long hike on this trail, the gravel and rocks can be very harsh on their paws. My dog had really sore paws after we got back.

My grandson and I had a great time. He loved climbing the huge boulders along the trail. Very easy walk and a beautiful lake at the end. On the way back we crossed the bridge and walked back on the left side of the creek. Way to much snow I wouldn’t recommend that. Stay on the main trail.

5/10 not bad, but very average. In hindsight taking a left at the lake to go around the more northern side would probably have given better views

Still patches of snow around but no issues hiking with snow or ice. We carried microspikes but those aren't really needed now.

beautiful hike! our family of 9 loved it. we stayed to the north of the river on the way back - much easier with a dualy stroller.

Awesome short hike. Might actually use this as a running trail in the future. My dog thoroughly enjoyed the trail as well as the beaches along the reservoir. Muddy in some parts, but not really anything of consequence. There’s a sign that said Rampart Reservoir is closed for the season, but ignore that. It definitely is not.

Great trail! You can go to the lake, around the lake, or hike on one of the trails that cut off the main trail. There were a few muddy spots, but not much. Lots of folks fishing today.

Wide, easy trail with some snow and ice left, but likely will be gone another week from now.

trail had some small patches with slushy snow and mud but not enough to need spikes or be a problem. It's a beautiful, easy trail. people were out but keeping socially distant and respectful of space. great trail to get away for a few hours

Great short hike with beautiful views. Still pretty snow-packed the majority of the trail and super muddy where it isn't. I kept my yaks on but would probably be ok without. Seems to be a popular fishing spot; almost everyone I passed had fishing gear with them.

21-mar-2020 tried to get around the reservoir but temperatures dropped and storm clouds started coming in. Most of the trail was packed snow/gravel with a little mud but there were areas around the side of the reservoir side that there was 1-2' of snow still that led to some post holing. Looking forward to trying again in the near future.

In mid February, the trail was packed snow. Some people walk in and others ski. We walked to the reservoir and back, for a total of 9700 steps.

Lovely, lovely, lovely! The reservoir was unreal and the half frozen river was quite a site. Perfect for a Saturday hike in the snow. A few people were fishing. 10/10. I would say it’s in between easy and moderate.
