Easy enough trail for 4+, with a little coaxing :) clear of snow and ice currently.

Very pleasant trail, it’s great for a late afternoon walk. If you’re looking for a more challenging hike there are more trails past the lake. The lake itself is more like a big pond, but watching the ducks paddle around is very relaxing.

very easy. nice in the fall but i personally found the lake disappointing. if you’re in the area check it out but not worth driving to. does lead to other trials that may have been more interesting (ex. you can take one all the way back to breckenridge!)

Trail map is NOT correct for the branches off of the loop version of this hike. The out and back just to the lake is fine.

Nice easy walk up to Rainbow lake with my wife and dog. We kept Cooper on leash as it was too crowded to let him run, but he enjoyed swimming in lake. Fall color was beautiful today and should still be good next week. I would like to return in Winter.

Very pretty and easy hike! We did this one right before the sun went down behind the mountains and the colors were gorgeous. Leaves on the trees were starting to turn yellow. Hiked up the trail with my almost two year old on my back. And she hiked all the way down by herself. Fairly easy trail, not too many people but lots of dogs and mountain bikers. We also saw a moose on our way back down that crossed right in front of us! It was really cool.

Easy trail. Lake is pretty but not the most picturesque. Lots of dogs playing in the water. Many side trails to take. Good for varying work out shapes for groups.

Easy from the parking lot to Rainbow Lake. Dog friendly but beware there are lots of Mountain Bikers on the trail going both ways. You can continue on The Peaks Trail towards Breckinridge.

Great views. Easy hike for my parents who were visiting from the East Coast! My dog had a wonderful time playing in the lake!

Great and easy hike. Good for kids. If you get there early enough in the summer you may see some moose! It’s a really pretty walk through the woods and the lake is great.

Easy, quick trail that would be a good option for kids. Busy, but not terrible.

3.5/5.0 Fairly easy out and back trail, leading to a lake. As others mentioned, it is crowded with families, dogs, mountain bikers, and fisherpersons.

Great easy trail, but crowded. We used this as a warmup for Mt. Elbert. The lake is small, but scenic. The trail is very easy.

Love this little hike which is dog friendly. Pretty easy and a nice cold little dip in the lake at the end is refreshing! Good for the old bones.

Excellent, easy family hike. By far the easiest one we completed. Our 2 year old was very comfortable walking the path. Very well maintained path. Lots of shade. Pretty busy- saw quite a few people and 2 bikes. But it didn’t bother us. The lake is pretty- but used by people.

Awesome short hike! It should be labeled “easy” but the lake is beautiful. It took us about 40 minutes.

The first .8 mile of rainbow trail to the lake is a very nice, easy, well maintained hike. Great for little kids. Then, we took a detour back

Short, gorgeous hike! A little muddy from recent rain, but the lake and beaver friend at the top are totally worth it! Did the whole thing in an hour, including some time to take in the view.

It was a nice, easy hike and there was plenty of shade. The lake is beautiful and if you go early it isn't too crowded and you can enjoy the lake with not too many people.

This was a great quick hike with tons of beautiful wild flowers. The lake is pretty. Only downside is there are a lot of people.
