Do not bother. They are logging on the trail. There is no shade and not much to see

We enjoyed this hike with our family. A bit crowded but lots of places to hop off the trail to social distance. Getting to the lake is like a stroll through a neighborhood park. Then you hit a road and walk along a creek. It is very pretty BUT you are on a road and it could be exposed on a sunny day. Towards the end the road starts to incline. We had been hiking with our kids for 1-2 hours and started to panic that perhaps we had missed where to turn to the left and loop back, so we turned around and came back down the same road. If we were just adults it would have been easy, pretty, and fine. Beautiful woods back there - no views - but lovely.

Good trail with kids. A rating of easy would be more appropriate. The trail is super pretty headed up to the lake BUT afterwards you walk up a dirt road. It feels less like a hike on the way up and more like just walking on a dirt road. When you turn around though, down the stream on your way back you get back into a trail and it’s great. Saw some pretty Columbines and thick beautiful aspens. Would recommend as an easy hike with kids or mountain biking.

Great trail. Super pretty during the summer. Plenty of shade. Saw a young moose and that made it ALL worth it

Good trail-it was muddy in a few spots, but easy to go around the mud or jump over it.

We only walked to the lake and turned around since we have young kids but we loved it! The kids enjoyed a little more terrain than the easy hikes we had been doing. Lots of streams to look at along the way.

Just finished this hike and it was actually a lot better than I thought since I was just basing it off of the short distance and the low elevation. We came to an opening on the way back if you're going counter clockwise and we could see Peak 1, 2 and 3 in the distance as well as Victoria and Royal and it was amazing. We also saw a few moose that were up close which was cool! Great hike for an evening stroll, not challenging at all.

15% mud and snow, easy to work around. Once you get to the turnaround is when the snow gets frequent. Anything past that might be tough. But this route is doable and worth it. Can jog for most of it.

I would give this one a few weeks (or choose another). Very muddy in the beginning and very snowy around the halfway mark... not great if you’re only equipped with boots. Also, not really that much to see and mostly fallen trees.

We enjoyed a lovely outing today. There were very few people in the trail. The trail was really quite good with mud in only a few places. Things will dry up in no time.

This is a great trail, and probly an awesome easy hike in the summer... however, there is still a lot of snow right now and with the warm weather I was post holing most of the way. Give it a few weeks before heading out to this one! Beautiful views and nice shaded/wooded trail

Fun easy trail! We made it on tennis shoes, but parts of the trail are pretty slick. Wouldn’t be a problem with boots or snow shoes. Most of the trail was packed down by people on skis.

Great day for a hike, lots of mountain bikes but not too bad. The trail head fills up late morning so get there early.

This hike was more easy than moderate, but overall incredible fall colors on 9/29/19. Got there around 10:15am on a Sunday and wasn’t too crowded but when I got back to the parking lot, it was PACKED. I stopped to take a lot of photos due to the colors changing and watched some dogs at rainbow lake- took me almost 3 hours to do the loop. Be prepared to go through 2 patches of water (you can hop up on the side to avoid getting wet).

We were looking for a relatively easy trail and not too far since we were starting in the afternoon. This one was good, 4.9 miles roundtrip on a loop and less than 700’ elevation. There’s Rainbow Lake, then Miner’s Creek, along which you are walking on a dirt road, then it turns onto Peak Trail, which was another pretty trail through the woods. The leaves are starting to turn and there were several places with good color, and the fireweed has turned red, so it was very pretty. It took us about 3 hrs roundtrip, but we stop frequently to take pictures and talk. The trail from the Miners Creek Rd to the Peaks Trail was not well marked, but watch for 2 different turns to the left as you are going up Miner’s Creek Rd. Both go to Peak’s Trail, then you start back downhill. Overall, a good easy trail when you aren’t wanting to work too hard.

Very good trail with a good amount of elevation change and allows for whatever distance your heart desires! Dog friendly trail that goes over the boardwalk, along Rainbow Lake, and follows the creek most the way. Shady in some parts with sun exposure in others. Highly recommend!

Good easy hike. The portion of the trail that you walk on a road is not as pretty as the rest of the hike.
