it's fun and easy, doesn't take long. even kids do it.. but at the end the lake isn't too impressive and is usually crowded.

Snow and icy right now...few areas need traction devices to be safe! Beautiful views, as always, and a nice place to exercise your dog ;-))

Part of Peaks Trail 45. Leisurely hike right out of Frisco. 100 yards in and you forget you're so close to town. Meanders from Zack Stop at the end of 2nd to the far side of Rainbow Lake (pond) where it connects to several other peaks trails or loops back to the recreational pathway.
In the winter it is still well traveled. Expect to run into other local hikers, cross country skiers and plenty of off-leash labradors.

Great short hike. A little icy in the winter when there is no snow. But awesome for dogs and a beautiful view of the lake.

Nice, easy trail that can be done with the family. Saw a couple with their toddler hiking this one. A snow the night before made this one a little slick in some spots. A few small streams to cross and a nice view of the lake at the top. Continue around the lake to the right to begin the Peaks Trail if you want to to adventure further. Also looks to be a common mountain bike path so keep your head up.

Family friendly hike. Once you arrive to the lake you can continue around the backside instead of going back down the same way you came up. Lots of fun for all ages and pets.

Great short hike for warming up in the morning and for families. I would probably say this trail is more "easy" than moderate, with limited elevation and solid surfaces. Beautiful trail and Rainbow Lake was a sight to behold.

It was fairly easy, definitely kid friendly. It took us about 16 minutes to reach the lake. A good hike if you haven't acclimated to the elevation yet.

About 4:00 in the evening we happened across a smaller Bull Moose and cow. Other than that, expect heavy traffic, lots of people with dogs and cyclists. Easy trail, I've done a few. This was simple. Very glad to have seen the moose though.

Great for snowshoeing. This is my go to hike for bringing out of town guests who haven't acclimated to the altitude. It's also a hike I like to do when I have other things to do, but need a walk in the woods, because it doesn't take very long and the lake is peaceful.

I do this hike once a week. Beautiful views on a short hike, which can easily be extended in different directions. In winter (snowshoeing), lots of different mountain views, fall has amazing aspens and spring is lovely too. Watch out for moose!

"Kid-friendly" doesn't mean anything less beautiful! My first time on this trail and I was amazed by the beauty of it. The trail was pretty packed down today, so I went off trail a bit because I wanted to use snow shoes. Can't wait to see it in the Fall.
