Quarry via Red Rock Canyon Trail is a 0.6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Manitou Springs, Colorado that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and mountain biking and is best used from March until October.
The quarry was established in Red Rocks in the 1800s, the remains of which are still quite evident and interesting to explore. The rocks there are among the largest in the park, and you can still see enormous geometric cuts in the rock face. Once on the east side of the quarry, you have two options for continuing up the hillside — a dirt path with switchbacks, or the steep “miners’ staircase” (cut directly into the rock). Accessibility: Users have reported that from the parking lot to the quarry is considered wheelchair and stroller friendly, but after the quarry, it gets really rocky and there are stairs. The trail surface is dirt and typically at least four feet wide. The route is mostly gentle with some steep sections over a 5% grade to the quarry so some wheelchair and stroller users may need assistance.
There are bathrooms and picnic tables by the parking area.
The Quarry Trail was a beautiful hike. I gave the trail four stars only because the trail is not clearly marked in some places. If you plan to link up to the Mesa Trail there are sections that are closed due to construction.
Great trail with lots of areas to explore and climb around. A good variety of hiking levels and beautiful views!
Very flat and easy. Out in sun. Nestled right next to C. S. More views of mountains than from mountains.
beautiful! make sure you start at the mesa trail. not too busy, but easy, gorgeous trail!
