this trail and trailhead are still closed. the town website says it's open but there's caution tape and a chained gate that say otherwise.

Very nice trail. Went clockwise and the initial climb is a challenge but worth it to coast your way back and enjoy the views.

Locked up now. Went a few months ago. Nice easy increase in elevation. At the time-parking was a pain. Had to park at school and add another 1/2+ mile to get to trailhead. Great picnic spots along the way.

Great hike for kids. Uphill about 1.5 miles and then you get to the reservoir which is beautiful. No swimming, no dogs. People were fishing though. Great spots for picnics. The parking lot was closed, so I parked at the elementary school. Added a couple of minutes to get to the trail head, but it was fine.

I did this trail today. The trail head is closed, i parked at the elementary school and it was a 5-7 minute walk down to the trail head which was NBD. The trail itself is nothing to brag about...it is wide open and not very "middle of the woods type of feeling" trail, but more like a dirt road feeling. Passed one small body of water onto the larger reservoir which was very pretty. I would recommend some bug spray at this point. I made it to the end of the 2nd reservoir and back to my car in 1 hr and 10 min. Super easy for a seasoned hiker but nonetheless, a good workout.

No shade on the way up to the reservoir, so bring your hats and sunscreen! Also, the incline up to the first reservoir is steep and has loose gravel. I didn’t pay attention to other reviews about how steep it is, so just be aware of that if you have bad joints or are carrying a toddler like we were. The view at the second reservoir is totally worth it, it’s very beautiful. We stopped and had lunch before heading back. No swimming, no dogs. We did see someone with a dog, which is rude since this is the town’s drinking water reservoir and signs are posted everywhere.

Parking is still closed. Parked at the Elementary School close by. This is such a beautiful hike, lots of animals- we saw a ton of birds, beavers in the water playing, deer, and so many chipmunks. The trail was in great condition- go early to beat the crowds.

Great hike! Loose small rocks on the way up, would recommend shoes with some traction. Pretty much all incline the whole way up. Not much shade until you get to the reservoir. The parking lots are closed, park at the elementary school just a few minutes away. Tons of signage to not park on side streets or you will be ticketed.

This was a great trail with all you could ask for in a Colorado hike. The lake is beautiful, slightly crowded but not bad. It was a nice stopping point for fishing and lunch. The hiking trails off or the lake area are not crowded at all and they are worth doing. The one we did was steep for about 0.2 miles and then it was relatively flat.

This specific trail I wouldn’t consider a ‘hike’, and classify as easy. You can easily branch off in multiple directions wether that be Chautauqua Mountain (south), Ice Creek cave, or plane crash (north). The reservoir is absolutely beautiful. Great highway trail to other fantastic spots.

The two reservoirs are beautiful and worth the effort getting up there. Trail is pretty easy- just steep in the beginning. Parking lot was still closed. We parked on Lovers lane down by the Tennis courts and we squeezed in. We were off the road and not on any grass or beyond any roped off area and still got a 50 dollar ticket!! Overall...great Mothers days hike!

Easy enough trail. Steep at the beginning but worth it once you get to the second lake! Locals told us to park at Palmer lake elementary school because the parking lot is closed. No issues there, just a short walk to the trail head

Beautiful hike, hard at first but gets easier when you get to the lake. Do you know if people get In trouble for fishing?

Parking lots are closed but you can still hike in. The walk up was pretty steep with a lot of loose gravel. The water was pretty. Ran into several other fishers/runners but it wasn't overly crowded. Nice relaxing walk once you get up to the second water area.

Parking lots are closed - have to park in the town and take a short walk in. Steep trail all the way up but worth it! Super pretty lake. There was a ranger on a four wheeler that stopped by at least three times in three hours to “check in” — a little annoying. Seemed like he was just looking to catch people doing something to give out some fines. Otherwise, perfect for setting up a hammock and doing some fishing.

Great uphill trail, it was crowded but very pretty. We saw people with dogs even though there are many signs that it is a $800 fine. Shortly after we saw a police four wheeler headed out and around the trail. Yikes!

Great trail, it’s an incline the whole way up but worth it at the end. Lots of great spots for hammocks. Most parking lots are blocked off due to Covid so get there early for a spot by the park.

I like this trail a lot. It has quite the incline to start out with. It ends with the beautiful Palmer Lake. In the summer there is a beautiful field on sunflowers at the end.

Please respect all communities you enter to visit hiking trails. There is plenty of parking along highway 105 at various lots and adds less than 1/4 mile to your hike. Please carry out all trash. (I saw several items ‘stashed’ on secondary trails.
