Scenic drivingGreat!

Outstanding fall showing by aspens on a clear blue sky day. Stopped at True Grit climatic shootout site....Beautiful meadow. Road very dusty and a little rough and free ranging cattle slowed us down a tad. Overall a great experience.

The views will not disappoint. Road was rough in some places and can be a bit nerve-wracking is some spots. Tahoe handled it just fine. Round trip took 2 hours.

As others have mentioned, it's a dirt road not OHV (if I was on the same one) with AMAZING views when the leaves are turning.

Hiking

I wouldn’t consider it a trail but more of a dirt road where anyone can go. The lake was drained most the way so a lot of mud trekking to even get close enough to fish. An okay day trip.

Spectacular views around every corner. We ended the drive with a hike down to the Silver Creek Reservoir. Many pictures taken along the way.

Hiking

Please take out any description that this is a trail. It is a dirt county road for cars with no trespassing signs on both sides. If you want to inhale dirt the whole time from the cars driving on it then certainly hike it. It is definitely not meant for walking or hiking.

Easy drive in FWD rav4 from Ridgway to Cimarron. Had nice views and well maintained gravel road the entire time. Not too busy. I recommend.

Easy well maintained gravel road from 550 to the pass. Peaceful but not a lot to see. Not many wildflowers or wildlife

Easy with some good scenery. Easy rating is accurate with well maintained road. There are some sharp rocks if you go in passenger vehicle you need good tires. Going on to Silver Jack was not worth the time.

Scenic driving

We made the drive in a FWD VW Passat with relative ease. No need for a 4wd vehicle, even when raining as long as you take it easy and watch out for oncoming traffic. There is also the "easy" way from hwy 50 near Cimarron which doesn't involve a pass, although like I say a car can easily make it if the driver isn't an idiot. Very awesome views, loads of wildflowers and mouthwatering raw mountain views. Tons of wildlife in the area including deer, occasional elk, tons of chipmunk (slow down!!!!!) and the fishing is awesome in the area. I've never encountered too many people in this area thank god

very nice trail, smooth. no sheer drop offs. we saw deer on trail in late afternoon/early evening. Trail was clear. West Fork was still snow covered about a mile in. We had to turn around. At the Pass, there is a very nice hiking trail.

beautiful drive... still about 5 miles snow covered... just beyond the actual high point of pass... God designed a complex chunk of land in this area... i had to turn around but made the drive from the opposite side later in the day up the Cimarron Valley... one of the nicest places ive ever experienced in Colorado... very low population...

Easy 2wd road with stunning views of Courthouse Mountain, Mattie Ross' Meadow, and provides access to the Silverback Reservoir and the Weminuche Wilderness. Amazing fall colors.

A beautiful scenic road to travel in the fall, with Courthouse Mt. and Chimney Peak in the background. There is a overlook on the Ridgeway side, and if you are there at sundown and if it's clear, you can get some great shots of Chimney Peak and Courthouse Mt. with a pink hue. Also there is an opening beside the road, with Chimney Peak in the background that a scene from the movie True Grit, with John Wayne was filmed.

We got as far as the Pass, but the road was closed. The plow had not opened beyond the pass.
